Since most people today are used to the Facebook commenting platform or something similar I think that it would be a good idea for someone to create a plugin that has a more modern style commenting system to Proboards threads. Let's face it, Facebook has been the most used social network website on the internet for many years now and is still going strong. I think it is also some what responsible for killing most forum communities because of Facebook groups having more features and being far more user friendly than forum software. If forums are going to survive they are going to have to get with the times and evolve in to a product that can compete with Facebook's features and ease of use. So basically the plugin should be set up like the Post Comments plugin, but far more advanced. It should allow Multi-level (nested) thread comments. There should also be a feature in the admin panel to set "collapse" comments as default view to keep the forum looking neat. User should be able to click a link or button to un-collapse comments and view all of them. Look at the attached image for an example. If this is not possible via a plugin then this thread can be moved to "Feature Requests" Attachments:

try this and paste html on the post list or elsewhere in the template Thanks. I have done this before on another forum but I was hoping for an onboard (native) solution. Of course it could be an optional feature. Not forced on everybody because it's obviously not needed for all types of forums.

Can somebody please move this thread to feature requests? Just as a note, there is no actual Feature Request board. They use the Support Board for feature requests and then add a label if they deem the idea worthy enough to mark it as such. By worthy enough, I am simply stating as to whether this is something only a few forums would use or need compared to if many forums would use or need it. I will tag some ProBoards Admins to alert them to here and let them decide: Michael, Scott, @kelvin.

Just FYI. I'll add nesting comments and other features when v5 makes it to open beta and we can access it on our forums. That will allow me to update the plugin with the new changes and unlimited keys will make the nested comments more feasible.

We here at ProBoards feel that the conversation style of threads on more traditional forums are absolutely part of the strength of our platform over our relative competition. Threaded conversations in the style you indicated are confusing in comparison to the normal forum thread style (due to the nesting and lack of quoteability) and tend to disincentivise longer replies with greater favoritism towards shorter one or two sentence replies.
When we have users come to us from social media platforms it's usually because they're looking to have better conversations that are easier to find, reference, reply to, etc. The more typical social media really doesn't prize anything beyond short, immediate conversations.
We have no plans to implement a comment style in this fashion and I'm happy leave this as a plugin request.
