Hi Steve You could enable the 'Falling' option in the board's settings [ admin > structure > categories and boards > double click board to avail it's settings panel ]. That would mean that topics will remain in the order they are in now, and new topics will go above them. Topics will remain where when a new post is made to them [ in other words, the topic will not 'bump' up ].

Have you considered stickying the topic so that it is always at the top?

the troubles is there are a series of videos, and wanted i them in order, eg one at the top and 10 at the bottom. that was the plan.

You could sticky the 10 video threads, then manually bump them in reverse order. In other words, bump #10 first, then bump #9, then bump #8, etc - as this will put the most recently bumped thread on top. You can mouse over a thread so the checkbox shows up, tick it, then Actions > Moderate > Bump to bump it. If they are the only sticky threads, then all new threads will start below #10.

Forum URL: (private) is it possible when you post a new thread that it goes underneath the previous thread rather than above it, hope this makes sense. thanks Craig's advice is the cornerstone. Default to Falling will prevent replies from re-shuffling the threads. Lynx's advice about selectively bumping threads will definitely work. But each time a new thread is added, you'll need to select all, then de-select just the newest thread, then bump. This code might be an easier way to manage, if threads will continue to be added. New Threads to BottomDisclaimer: I didn't create this. I modified some code created by bartlesby . His code inverted the order of posts in a thread. This inverts the order of threads on a board. It's meant to be placed in a specific Board Header or Footer. Warning:Do NOT use this code ...- On any Board where sticking threads to the top is an important feature. This code will cause stuck threads to be placed at the bottom.
- On any Board where displaying announcements is is an important feature. This code will cause announcements to be placed at the VERY the bottom.
Screenshots:Without code, New threads at top, Announcements and Stickies above. With code, New threads at bottom, Stickies and Announcements below. How to use:Prepare the Board settings Admin Home> Structure> Categories & Boards> Select board, Edit Properties, Settings tabShow Announcements = No Default to Falling = Yes Prepare the threadsSelect and bump any existing threads if necessary, so that the newest thread is at the top and the oldest thread is at the bottom. This is the reverse order of what you will eventually see. If no replies have ever been made to the existing threads, they'll already be in this order. Install the code:Copy/paste what you see below into the Board Header (or Footer) for the desired board. <!-- Reverse Thread List (place in Board Header or Footer) --> <script> function flip() { var x = $("tr[id^='thread-']"); var xlen = x.length; var z = x.parent(); while (xlen--) { z.append(x[xlen]); } }
$(function() { if (pb.data("route").name == "board") { flip(); pb.events.on("afterSearch", flip); } }); </script> <!-- END --> Note: With this code in place, any thread that is manually bumped will sent to the bottom, not the top. Sticking a thread will send it to the bottom.

Retread does bring up a good point that stickied threads, even though they still will remain grouped at the top of the thread list, will reorder if replied to. However his solution does not account for mobile device users. The mobile version does not render code in headers and footers.
The one piece of information that should be asked is, does the op plan on allowing reply posts in the video threads or are these intended as read only? - If the video threads are open to replies, then sticky the threads in the order you want them, select them all and enable falling. This will keep them ordered at the top of the thread list regardless if they are replied to or not. - If the video threads are closed to replies, then sticky the threads in the order you want them, select them all and then lock them. This will keep them ordered at the top of the thread list and prevent members from posting replies.
Rather than adding unnecessary code it would be easier to just use the already built in options.
