What are your thoughts about this years State of the Union speech?
I thought the president have some notable moments and his direct address against Soicialism got nice Bi-partisan support as did his acknowledgement of all the new women in Congress.
Of course some things are still hot potatoes like the "wall". This was the teleprompter Trump reading the speech that was written for him last night but, if his actions end up matching his words, then I think it went well. Time will tell.

I did not listen to Trump's SOTU, because his talk about the wall, his propaganda, his incorrect information and etc. would not be worth my listening time.

I think he nailed it! If he can control his mouth the left will have the ball in their court! That's spelled with a capital IF. In my opinion, President Trump has projected an attitude of arrogance and antagonism in the past. Last night was very different. He seemed to be promoting cooperation and compromise. A focus on the good things we've accomplished, the areas of improvements to be addressed going forward, and the necessity for both parties to work together, give a little, take a little. He he maintains this cooperative yet assertive posture, he just might get some good things accomplished.

The speech itself was... fine. There were no big surprises; he told the Republicans exactly what they wanted to hear while still tossing a few scraps to Democrats, just as I’ve come to expect. It’s hard to say much about it when you know from experience how insincere the whole affair is for Trump.
I can appreciate that he’s gotten better at giving canned speeches. He sounded far more natural and less wooden last night than he usually does when reading from a teleprompter. He must have taken the time to practice with this one, so good for him (sincerely, I’m glad this improved).
But, there’s this little chime that rings in my head whenever Trump says something that needs a fact check. Last night Big Ben and about thirty of his buddies were holding a deafening concert in my skull. That’s become par for the course whenever Trump tries to quote any fact or statistic.
Beyond the carol of the bells ringing last night, I could still hear the distracting Windows startup music that played every so often during the speech. Did anyone else hear that? I was watching on CBS, and two or three times, relatively close together, the Windows Vista/7(/8?) startup tune would play. It wasn’t very loud and could only be heard while Trump was talking, so it must have been somewhere near the podium and for some reason the speakers were left cranked up, even after the first instance. No one on screen acknowledged the music any time it played.

One of the best speeches this President has given since in office. Was that a choir on the right of my screen, they were all in white! Did anyone hear them perform? Asking for a freind... Those were Congresswomen who participating in a "whiteout" along with Nancy Pelosi. www.foxnews.com/politics/dems-face-backlash-for-not-applauding-low-unemployment-veterans-during-sotuI saw a shooped image of that today. It was somewhat convincing but there was an obvious clue. The partially obscured the face of the guy sitting closer to the foreground

Donald Trump has history of speaking incorrect information, speaking propaganda or providing propaganda or lies often. I did not listen to Trump's SOTU, because his talk about the wall, his propaganda, his incorrect information and etc. would not be worth my listening time. A politician made a speech and 'strayed from the facts'? Oh my, that's never happened before. lol Past presidents have spoken with intellect and eloquence. The other difference is that past presidents have also provided facts. It also true that past presidents have exaggerated or lied about various things. Donald Trump just gives the wrong facts or he just lies.

Past presidents have spoken with intellect and eloquence. I've been sharply critical of President Trump's tendency to antagonize rather than promote compromise. What I saw in his SotU was a departure from this and yes, even some moments which could be characterized as 'eloquent'. What did you see?

And it appears a compromise is on the horizon for border control.
