Are any of your smilies hosted by that beekeeping forum? You could also try using the word censor to break that url that it's searching for. NO!! That beekeeping is apparently one of PB's clients, no? And the only thing worth noting here in terms of troubleshooting, is that the only thing I tried to do/did was delete the smiley duplicates. Apparently, I'd copied and pasted some dupes, and just wanted a trim. Then some from a site (freesmiley.org?) no longer worked, so I deleted those, and had to do a boatload of renumbering. Sorry, but I'm really bewildered by that last sentence. 'censor'? Uh, no. It's not anything to do with PB. Not sure why you would think it was. It's not any of the PB domains. And, having looked through the smilie list, it is indeed in there. www.beekeepingforum.co.uk/images/smilies/rules.gif. For what it's worth, this one, as well as 1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZINRRcHUz5A/UW7lXUmFpOI/AAAAAAAAJFY/ipqE0bFezZQ/s1600/wow.gif should absolutely be rehosted somewhere else. You have not only helped yourself to their images, but you are hotlinking to them as well, which is stealing their bandwidth that THEY PAY FOR. That's not cool. Your other sites clearly allow the direct links, as they provide the codes. Censoring, BTW, can be used to filter out language you don't want, but also to "break" a problematic url. You put it on your list, and just make the replacement text a period or something. I have done that on forums where someone posts an image that is setting off antivirus software. Sometimes it's hard to find the image itself so breaking it is faster.

Not sure what you mean, but I now see they are both used in my dropdown interchanging many times. IDK how that happened, and it's not a problem, but I will fix it anyway. lol Thanks!! Sorry, meant both, not bother You said prev page "If you could also go through and edit those posts to remove the bbcode, that should stop the page from crashing. You can turn off image loading in your browser temporarily to access the page without it crashing." If you mean the 'seen it do strange stuff' part, isn't the BBC code the culprit for a post having weird code along it's left-most border? The bbcode being injected in to the post was due to the smiley plugin issue. Fixing that smiley plugin, will not remove the bbcode that was injected so you will need to remove that manually.Obviously the page crashes at the moment for you, but if you disable javascript in your browser it will allow you to access the page without it crashing and you can either delete the problem post(s) or edit them and remove the bbcode. All over my head. I'll just delete the posts. Sounds like it'ss take some time, never seen anything get hung up like that, and didn't affect the memory at all, wow. Thanks! "Both" I should've got that. Distracted day here. hehe Thanks! NO!! That beekeeping is apparently one of PB's clients, no? Still weird it would look like the site was trying to forward itself there. Certainly was not using that smiley, it's a rarity. EDIT: The censoring and "break" and finding the image is also over my head, but that's fine. My job to investigate at my leisure. Thanks!

If you change the settings in your browser to disable JavaScript, that thread will load in a couple of seconds. Then edit or delete the two bugged posts. Then change the setting in your browser to enable JavaScript again. What web browser are you using? If we know that, perhaps one of us can step-by-step you through the process of disabling JS.

Helped myself?!? lmao The image address says 'smilies' in it. So THEY intended it, named it, or why does it exist? I was not looking for bees info, the site probably just came up in a search for (league) 'rules' smiley or something. Last damn thing I'm doing, at least intentionally, is 'hotlinking' or stealing the bit of bandwidth. lol "Not cool"? I'm just trying to revive a site for some displaced fantasy football league friends. I'll be more than happy to remove that smiley. Tell me how it came up in the first place when I didn't click on that smiley. Maybe they are the ones stealing what they can in terms of cookies or whatever. Isn't that how it usually works?

Okay, for Chrome, look for a little icon in the upper right that has three dots in a vertical column. Click it. A new tab opens. On the upper left of the new tab you'll see an icon that looks like three horizontal lines stacked up and the word Settings next to it. Click the Icon. A panel opens on the left. Partway down you'll see the word Advanced. Click that to get more choices. Click Privacy and Security. The left panel retracts. Look for the word Content Settings. Click that. A new page is displayed. Click on JavaScript. A new page is displayed. The first item looks like a switch that goes left-to-right. Click it. It should now say Blocked. Now open a NEW TAB to navigate to that thread and delete the offending posts. You can return to this tab after you're done and simply click the switch again to Allow JavaScript and return to normal. That will save you from all the steps to get to that switch.

You are the absolute best! Somehow, my admin did not allow me to delete the posts, just edit. Even the comments button is gone, weird. Okay, re-instated the Javascript, and it's all back. Whew, what a long strange trip it's been. (Grateful Dead reference for probably most of you. lol)

You may well not have intentionally "stolen" anything, but just because a url has the word smiley in it doesn't mean it's fair game for everyone. The vast majority of your smilies come from image sites that clearly allow the linking, or they wouldn't provide the codes for you. But the one from the beekeeper site is someone else's site, hosted by vbulletin, and it's possible that that forum owner is paying for it. The other is someone's personal blog, and again they may be paying for it. Therefore, linking to those 2 images is stealing someone else's bandwidth. Maybe this will help. Hotlinking and why it's badAs for why that one url was causing the problem, I don't know. But it could have been posted by someone else other than you.

I think it was successful. Yes, it seems like it was. I can now open that thread with JS enabled and it fully loads in a couple of seconds. You'll probably want to change the permissions on your boards to prevent guests from posting, or change back to 'Guests Must Login' if you don't want guest to be able to view. But I reckon Craig has your issue with the smiles all in order now.

Hotlinking and why it's badAs for why that one url was causing the problem, I don't know. But it could have been posted by someone else other than you. You absolutely implied that I stole it with "you helped yourself" "stealing what THEY PAY FOR" (yes, in caps), and "that's not cool". Had you looked at the bigger picture, you'd see this was a stinking isolated smiley, and that no one in my forum gives a rats butt about it, we're just trying to stay functional after a departure from a bad situation. You probably haven't been keeping up, but that URL was not the problem. It was a blank line I'd left (to be filled in later) in the list, just quotes and a ';' EDIT: I did not say butt. Testing... butt a s s lol!! EDIT: I'm getting rid of that smiley, cuz they are planting cookies and redirects (?) whether we use that smiley or not (we see it posted 3x a year hehe). IOW, they get more out of it than us. IDK how they were even able to do it! Eats up a bit of my memory as well. Never seen a redirect to shervnet (we probably have 50 smileys from them) or the others.

Truth is, no one else would find it or care if they stumbled upon it. And anyone else with good intentions would be welcome. But thanks for the heads up. We were just thankful we had a ready made place to go. haha
