Do you believe the news? Just because it's printed/uploaded...doesn't make it so. How do we remove the wheat from the chaff?
Thoughts?

Most news from historically reputable, mainstream outlets is factually accurate. It’s the audience that likes to ascribe more meaning to something and allows itself to be mislead or otherwise come away with an impression that may not be accurate. The audience then inaccurately points its finger(s) at the news outlets as if they were in the wrong.
For example, when the news reports that an anonymous staff member of the White House said something scandalous, all that is being reported—and this all that should be taken at face value—is [someone] said [something]. Is [someone] real? Certainly, even if their identity isn’t revealed in the reporting. Did [someone] say [something]? Almost certainly, but sometimes misquotes do occur.
Is [something] truthful and accurate? That’s the million dollar question. The media isn’t actually reporting that [something] is true, it’s only quoting someone else’s claim. The audience is tricked by its own biases into making unsubstantiated judgment calls. This goes for all news, as it’s almost always citing someone else, no matter the subject.
We, the audience, need to be more discerning so that the media has to work harder to prove its assertions.

Everything I read is true, even this sentence, which is false.

I don't watch the news anymore -- I think most of what comes out is for ratings boosts and their profit gain. Otherwise news is just playing with us. I watch for the weather, cute stories and nothing else.

News is not nearly as balanced and unbiased as it once was when is comes to anything political. All other news is well balanced.
For myself(cynical when it comes to political news), I read Fox, CNN, Reuters and the AP. Then to balance it, I read what the foreign press says, BBC and Jerusalem Post.
When I'm done, I have a clear picture of what was really said and what really happened... or I am totally confused.

All fake news except for Fox news. And then realize that Fox news a.k.a. Faux news is the fake news.

All fake news except for Fox news. It's important that people know that Fox News was purposefully established to be a partisan mouthpiece for republican and neo-conservative interests.
Other media outlets may have their slants and sometimes bias, but Fox News is unique in that it was designed from conception to be propaganda.
One solution to this is to get news and information from a variety of sources.

And CNN isn't propaganda for the left? I do agree, as I mentioned earlier in this thread, I use multiple new sources simply because I do not trust any of them to be unbiased when it comes to politics.

I do agree, as I mentioned earlier in this thread, I use multiple new sources simply because I do not trust any of them to be unbiased when it comes to politics. I mentioned other media outlets. Sometimes it's important to drop the whataboutism and completely call out the negativity or evil. Sometimes it's necessary to call out Joe for what Joe is, without saying, "well what about Bill." We can talk about Bill later on the merits of its own, but let's not muddy the waters.
People need to be aware that Fox News is propaganda, deliberate and from inception. Any legitimate news they deliver is a Trojan Horse to lull viewers in so that they can be manipulated.
