Hi, I am not sure why nearly all the members on my forum are counted as "Staff" in the 'members on-line" ?
Just noticed this today, but there seems to be no way of fixing it.
Yesterday I added one person as a moderator and assigned some staff buttons to them. But this shouldn't make all the others appear as Staff in the on-line list at the bottom of the forum.
Also it seems when I try and assign staff buttons/powers to one member, it doesn't work.
Can you please shed some light on this and let me know what I can do to correct it?
Thanks
Dey

Deyana, You'll want to check Admin > Members > Member Groups and see which groups have Staff set to Yes - as that is where Staff are defined. Also, you can't give powers to a member directly - you'll need to create a Member Group and put them in that group with defined powers. They need not be Staff nor Global. Then, when selected in a board as a Moderator, they'll have the powers assigned. This is how you can have many Moderators, but only specific ones moderate specific boards if done by name rather than group. Hope that helps.

Lynx, I did that a few times already. All seems fine in the Admin panel. The Staff are staff and have the correct powers assigned to them. It seem that the issue is in the information section where the on-line members are listed at the bottom of the page. The other issue is that I am unable to give powers to a new staff member. I tried this yesterday and it didn't work. I typed in the buttons/powers they could use, but they still have no access to them.

I understand this, and it is what I did. The member I made a moderator yesterday is the only one who moderates the group ''Games Board Moderator".

Deyana, Was the person added to a group (created or existing) that has powers? You can add them to a group by going to their profile > Groups > Add member to group (link found under group name). Powers are defined in <Member Groups, so they must be in a group with those powers - even if they are to be the only one in that group to moderate a specific board. If that is set, then you need to go to Admin > Structure > Categories & Boards > (edit specific board) > Moderators (tab) and add them there.

Hi,
From some spot checks it does appear that you have most members (potentially all members) in a group that is designated staff.
What member are you having difficulty assigning powers to?

Lynx, you were right! I had clicked the Staff button for other members. Just corrected it. Thank you so much! I will try and assign the powers to that one moderator now.

Hi Michael, yes I realized my mistake and have corrected it now.
I will wait for the new Moderator to log on later on and see if she can access the buttons/powers I assigned to her.
I tried it with a spare handle that I have and it didn't work.
Will keep on tying. If I still can't do it, I will get back to you.
Thanks again
