I taught myself how to make bread. It was something being fond of baking I always wanted to try, but it always seemed so hard. I found a pretty simple recipe though, and it turned out great.

: D FTFY Google Translate isn't always accurate.

I'm participating in Maturago Museum's ARTifacts show. The first piece sold, so I had to make a second one, the Kangaroo Rat in the wood knot. The show involves artists being assigned certain artifacts from the museum collection and then creating works inspired by that artifact. I had to be inspired by a Merriam Kangaroo Rat. The exhibit is meant to get artists to try new things or to be inspired by something they wouldn't normally include in their art.

I really need to get back into trying to cook new recipes... I stopped about four years ago at pancakes. Suffice it to say I don't have a very diverse palette.

Try learning Maltese... less than 500,000 people worldwide speak it. Yup, and we're learning it. English is an official 2nd language in Malta so not everyone there even speaks it. If you showed up in Malta speaking Maltese as an American locals would be very impressed! We met a Brit who lived there who learned a bit of the language, but stopped bothering when everyone spoke to him in English anyway. My new thing lately has been D&D. Kinda got dragged into it and didn’t think it’d be something I enjoyed, but it’s actually been really good fun. I started to learn Roomania several years ago in order to understand the songs of a child singer named Cleopatra Stratan. It was a very interesting experience which made me wonder how the heck I ever became bilingual without really hardly trying as I grew up.

When was the last time you tried something new? I'm of the belief that learning something new keeps the mind sharp, so as I get older I've been trying things more and more. I don't try something new... anything new....just for sake of it. If a subject or topic piques my interest, I will research/study it obsessively for months/years, until the next interesting thing comes along! My latest obsession is why do plane crashes occur? Mayday, Air Crash Investigation, Seconds from Disaster, various YT videos etc. I have a good knowledge of aviation and things that can go wrong, I think...both mechanical and pilot error!
