OK, so I'm going to see if I can go an entire week without having Dunkin Donuts, starting Monday. This means that I'll need to find both a healthy source of lunch and not consume coffee, which may lead to me falling asleep shortly after said healthy lunch, if I'm not careful. I might instead end up limiting myself to one coffee and nothing else from Dunkin Donuts per day, if that not-falling-asleep part doesn't pan out the way I'd like it to. This is part of my broader goal to eliminate excess sugar from my diet, because it's surprising that I'm not just one big sugar molecule at this point. I had originally done something like this four summers ago, where I tried to cut all the unhealthy stuff out of my diet in an effort to lose weight. The end result is that I did successfully lose weight and keep it off, and I even eliminated soda from my diet entirely, which is most likely the reason I haven't developed any new cavities since... about four summers ago. But I've also noticed junk/sugary food steadily creeping back into my diet since then. I'm continuing to count calories every day, but about 1/3 of those daily calories are coming from unnecessary sugary things (including about 400 calories' worth of Dunkin Donuts coffee), which seems less than ideal. I mean, I am still staying within my daily calorie limit, but that probably means less when those calories aren't coming from very healthy sources. Have you made any dietary changes lately? Did you successfully make them long-term changes, or did you eventually lapse back to your old habits?

I don't understand this. Coffee isn't food, coffee is life.
Ah, yes, this is good. I have cut out most soda, except for some diet drinks.

Best thing that worked for me is meal prepping and having a steady supply of emergency snacks to make sure I don't spend money on buying more food outside of my fridge. My budget doesn't allow me to afford eating out. For example, I keep dry foods in my car like trail mix. Soups are also great because you can make it in bulk and freeze it for a longer shelf life. These containers from amazon are a good example for meal prepping.

Jim and I went on a mostly plant based diet over a year ago. We've since added eggs, fish and shellfish to our diet, but have done very well sticking to it. I thought I would miss red meat more, since I love a good ribeye steak, but I really don't miss it. What you need to do is find new things to like, not to find fake versions of what you used to like. You're on a good path by eliminating all that sugar, especially if 1/3 of your calories are from unhealthy sources. Keep in mind, though, that you will have some setbacks. It's natural. What's important is to not allow yourself to get depressed by the setbacks and give up.

I think you need to cut back instead of drowning yourself, some people get use to junk food and have major withdrawls. Maybe start eating healthy throughout the week and treat yourself on the weekend.
Remember theres always going to be something bad in some sort of food even diet sodas are unhealthy just like grabbing a beer it's all about moderation and work outside you dont need to cut something completely put of your life.
Although there are strict 90 day workout that call for it there are also food competitors that can flip cars out there.

A few months ago I tried to make a big change in my diet. Mostly just trying to buy plenty of fruits and veggies and generally healthy foods, make the vast majority of my meals at home, get on a more regular schedule, have less takeout, etc, etc. I bought kale. Part of it was trying to see if it would help any of my symptoms (it didn't), but the rest was that I just wanted to eat healthier and cook more. I've stuck with it because it's not too difficult for me and because it tastes pretty good, so I don't feel like I'm sacrificing anything.

A few years ago I learned something new that to me was considered valuable and a challenge. That quitting smoking was a heck of a lot easier to quitting junk foods whether it be fast foods to wrapped foods.
Knowing my body wanted something to substitute one bad habit to another more so than what it already did I needed to retrain my mind to eat better and it did work for the most part but, then I learned what was making me want that so called comfort food was stress, changing that to me 'til this day is a challenge but, far less now that I am employeed, I can now buy my own food that suits me and work with me when I'm at work and treat myself to a little indulgence every day and am back to losing weight.
I treated myself to fish and chips on Friday and regretted it later as I couldn't bend over without wanting to heave because the grease was not digesting. So, with that being said, I now have to be careful on WHAT I treat myself to like maybe something a LOT less greasy maybe.
Portioning your food intake depends on the person and the type of diet, I can portion my food but, I will only do that if my plate has too much starch and fatty meat on my plate. Salt is another one that's not good either if one uses TOO much of it.
Find out what your body is getting too much of and either cut or quit that out.

Your a better person then me....I always eventually cave in and eat something un healthy. Not even knowing I could get diabetes or worse is enough to stop me from eating chocolate.

I can proudly report that I have not eaten any sugary calories today. Key word being "eaten." I did in fact have two coffees, and I suspect that those are going to be tougher to phase out. I've thought about switching to black coffee, but I've had that a few times, and it just lacks something. Like... that appealing flavor I associate with the cream and sugar in coffee. I guess one would call it "cream and sugar."

I treated myself to an Oreo McFlurry the other day after doing the first mow (and other lawn work) of the year. They’ve gotten much smaller, but that sure isn’t reflected in the price. The “regular” size seems more like a snack, and I can only assume the “snack” size is more of a sample. Also, do you realize there can be members here who weren’t even alive to experience the glory of supersize fries?! They’ve been denied that most holy of unholy serving of crispy golden potato sticks drenched in grease and salt. That makes me so sad for them.
