Currently I'm renting a handicapped unit, dont ask why they gave it to me theres nothing wrong with me guess it was the only thing available at the time.
Well my issue is theres a bath tub with a walk in cut out and I'm trying to think of ways I could cover it up so I can take baths . I was thinking about just taping a bunch of duct tape to it but I'm u sure if that would damage it when I remove it.

Did they remove the door? Ours is about chest high and a walk in cutout and a sealable door. The tub is a full body with a seat at the back.

Strange there's no door to give you the 'option' of a nice deep bath. I haven't seen one like this before. How about having a section of uPVC cut to size and fixing/sealing it with silicone at the edges? Silicone is waterproof/adhesive and can be peeled off when you want to remove the section...with no damage to the bath. I would make the section at least 2 inches bigger than the opening [height and width] so it overlaps the opening and gives a good waterproof seal.

Well, without a door, it would just be good for a shower. You would have to have a curtain and rod though. I have never seen anything like that before.

Duct tape (especially the premium stuff like Gorilla Tape) is pretty amazing stuff. But if there's no door and you're planning to span the entire width with duct tape, you might want to inform your neighbors of your plans and give them time to build an ark.

Honestly, if yours looks similar, my guess is it's a custom hatchet job so the landlord could claim the shower as handicap accessible.

Put a stainless steel trough inside of it on top of a rubber mat so it doesn't mar the surface.

The reason being is that you don't want to mess with plumbing as a renter, definitely not anything that may potentially flood. If it floods you could be sued for thousands or tens of thousands of dollars in damages. You making changes = they try to blame you whether you're at fault or not.

User 180565 is taking donation, was the apartment advertised as shower only? Or does the lease specify the amenities? Possibly might have some recourse. Or you could just ask your landlord what's up. "Hey I was going to take a bath but there a big chunk of the tub wall missing."
