hello! i apologize if i've posted this in the wrong board. i would like to remove the spacing between different categories on my forum, but only certain ones rather than all of them. i have been searching but can only find a code which squishes all of the categories together. i'm trying to achieve a look of "sub-categories" so would like to squish some categories together while leaving the spaces between others. is this possible?
thank you!

A forum URL would be helpful. It would also need to be known which categories need the spacing between them - as categories have ID's as well, those will need to be checked in order to tailor the code to your need.

Lynx ah okay i wasn't sure you would need the actual forum but it makes sense you'd use the IDs. the forum is here and from looking at the main page you can kind of see which categories i want to squish together. basically i'd like to remove the spaces between the categories with the big header images and the ones below them that are just titled with text and no header images. so for example i'd like the "uptown" category to be squished right up beneath the "town square" one. the other ones i want squished together are the ones beneath the "out of town" category that also don't have any title images. thank you!!

sunshine, Sorry. I tried everything I could think of to try to get the space gone. The best I could do was remove the gaps between all of the categories, and I know that's not what you're looking for. Maybe someone more experienced can help - I'm thinking it can be done with CSS and I'm just not getting the right selectors to target. Tagging a few people, maybe one of them can help. Sorry. Few ways to do it. I would probably use CSS.
What you can do is target the anchors by attribute (i.e "category-1", "category-6"), and grab the next adjacent sibling (".container.boards", which is the category container), and remove the margin top / bottom.

The selector and declaration for this: a[name="category-16"] + .container { margin-bottom: 0; } Replace "16" with the ID of the category you want to remove the bottom margin from.

sunshine To save you time in the future, if you go to Admin > Structure > Categories & Boards, hover over the category you're trying to target and click the little arrow icon to the far right, it will open a new tab/window that has the category URL in the address bar. The number in the URL is the ID of the category.
