The thread about wallets made me think of this. I am the type, when I get change at a store, to just shove it into wherever it will fit in my purse (in the odd times I'm not with hubby). Jim, however, is very particular about how his money goes into his wallet. The bills have to be in numeric order, and facing the same way.
How particular are you with your "paper" money?
As an aside, I never know how much I have in my purse at any given time. Once, I pulled it all out and counted it, and there was $1200 in there!!!

wildmaven, I'm the same as Jim as far as the paper money, largest to smallest, facing the same way. I blame my mom as she used to work in a bank. Uhm, next time you have a garage sale with purses - let me know. lol

I'm a mix of you and Jim. If I'm in a hurry, I shove it where it will go and stay put. If I am leisurely doing something, I have no problem organizing my money.

Of course, he sometimes forgets to check his pockets before he washes clothes, so you might want to come check out the purses anyway when we have a sale.

I just shove the bills in wherever, although I try to avoiding stuffing larger bills into smaller ones (like a $10 inside of some $1s) because then I'll forget they're there and think I have less on hand than I do. Also, I always seem to have way too many $1s except when I specifically need them.

It’s very rare I have paper money. If I do, I’ve usually drawn it out for some specific purpose. I occasionally have coins, so it’s not like they need organising.
Most of the rubbish in my purse is vouchers. Every few months I have to organise and throw out all my expired Nectar vouchers that just get shoved in there while I’m at the checkout and then forgotten about.

When i do have notes, i would have the in order, all face up, largest to smallest on top. i rarely use physical money these days. If i do, then i generally just put it in my pocket, wrapped in the receipt usually.

I keep my bills orderly most of the time. I will shove a receipt with cash in my pocket until later when I can organize.

i rarely use physical money these days. We had a string of credit card skimmers happening at gas stations all across town, so we've gotten into the habit of paying cash now for gas. :/

I'm not as organized as some but I like to have somewhat of a system. The way I do it is that I try to get wallets with two pockets plus a special spot for cards. So all my change goes in one pocket and all my paper money goes in the other pocket. With my cards being organized in the card department based on function(I try to have things like gift cards, bank and credit on one side and have my health card and other id in another).
This way I have at least a general idea of where to find things. I also don't carry purses, I refuse to be the person that carrys twenty plus things, and has to dig around holding up a line, just to find money.

A stack of currency should be arranged: - Sorted by denominations with the largest top.
- The face of each bill is toward the top of the stack.
- The rotational orientation of all bills are the same.
Of course since I generally only have singles these days, #1 usually isn't an issue. At one point in time, I also maintained my coins in an orderly manner.

I order paper money by value but not intentionally. The higher value notes are bigger so they go behind the smaller value notes as habit.

My (trifold) wallet has a divider down the center of the bill pocket, creating an inner pocket and an outer pocket (relative to the fold). Singles always go in the inner pocket. Larger bills always go in the outer pocket, in ascending order of value from inner to outer. I know many people would put the smaller bills on the outside to hide the value of their cash, but I’m a rebel.
If I have someone else’s change, such as if they’ve asked me to pick up something for them at the store, it goes in the singles pocket with the larger bills and/or receipt acting as a divider; or, if it’s all singles, it might go in the pocket for bigger bills. Most likely I’ll just stick it in my pocket, though.
The bills will almost always be facing the same way, but their rotational orientation isn’t guaranteed, especially for singles. I tend to spruce up the bills when I add or remove money at home.

Opening my wallet is like opening pandora’s closet. I’m one of those people who stuffs their money either into wherever it fits in the wallet, or in my actual bag, especially if I’m at the front of a queue and I don’t want the person behind me to wait. I’m sure I have random bills in lots of different purses (which makes it fun when I “discover” money in a neglected bag).
Saying that, I try not to take money out, unless for a specific reason.

I rarely use cash. When I do, it depends on my mood. Sometimes I'll keep it nice and neat, other days I just throw it somewhere in my wallet and call it good. I recently discovered a $20 bill hiding in the coin pouch on my wallet. No idea when it was put there.
