One of my coworkers was in our break room and took what I thought was her water bottle and put ice and fruit into it. She then pushed a button and it started blending!!! OMG, what a neat little device. It's from BlendJet and I just ordered one for myself in hot pink, haha. It charges via a USB and she says she usually gets about 10 blends from one charge. (I have no affiliation with the company, just sayin'!) So, I now will need some yummy recipes from those who actually make their own. I know google is my friend, but I'd rather know from people who have actually tried the recipes.

I have a smoothie blender, a Breville Blend Active. It's really good. However, when I discovered how many calories/sugar were in a fruit smoothie, I restrict them now The average apple has around 45-50 calories, I believe... if you eat it 'whole' as a piece of fruit. Fine. However, if you combine it with loads of other fruit in a smoothie...it really bumps up the calorific/sugar value....and you lose some of the fibre intake. Blended/blitzed fruit is easier to consume. You just drink them. Easier than eating and chewing a whole apple, orange, banana, grapes in one go! Would we really consume that much amount of fruit in one sitting if we had to eat it? I couldn't.... LOL.

Actually, what she put in was crushed ice, half of a banana, and protein powder, with a little bit of water. Not a whole lot of calories there. 🙂

That may be perfectly acceptable, however, I wouldn't be comfortable with protein powder. What IS protein powder?

If it isn't loaded with calories and fat, I'm usually not interested. I have an immersion blender and was toying around with drinks but mostly with milk. Bananas and milk (with or without chocolate syrup). PB&J - Strawberry preserves and Peanut Butter (not too much PB, less is more) and milk. Ice Cream + anything sweet.

I looked at the tub from which she took it and it was pea, hemp seed, flaxseed, mushroom, and sacha inchi powders and vanilla.

Yes I do every morning or make it at night before . I make three different types -- 1) Fruit smoothies with yogurt 2) (Not quite smoothie but it works for a liquid lunch or whatever) - Take a look here -- > www.rebootwithjoe.com/ - a great use of everything from the vegetable or fruits. I lost a lot of weight but also felt really great as well. More energy, sleep well, and allergies, asthma was no problem or was little problem. Anyway I use it for snacks, or a dinner if I don't feel like having a solid. 3) Either all fruits or fruits with mixture of veggies -- with nothing else. Or with protein powder. Coconut milk or other mixture. Breakfast has been difficult for me to eat so I make smoothies for breakfast. It works and easy on the go breakfast. For a dessert, at times I will put in strawberries (*or any fruit or mixture of different ones) with yogurt with ice but very rare -- a healthy alternative to ice cream and I know the ingredients I put in it. More like frozen yogurt.

More like an indulgent dessert, than a healthy drink

I have started making my own smoothies to get more fruit in my diet. My favorite has to be chocolate raspberry.
Roughly this is the recipe. I don't really use any measuring.
2 cups of chocolate almond milk
1 cup Frozen raspberry
You can add more or less milk depending on your taste. I tried the same thing with a banana added to it which is also really good.
I use just a normal blender..but that gadget your co worker has sounds neat.
