Probably around the time we decide we're "too old" to show any of our emotions. Perhaps the answer to being able to receive and show more compassion is to be more honest about how we feel.

Some of my favorite moments in my life have been helping strangers. Jim calls me the Finder of Lost Lambs. I sit down with strangers who are crying in a restaurant, or next to an old man who looks intensely sad. I think so many people miss the signs because our world has become so busy, so frenzied. I'd rather chance being told to get lost, than to miss helping some of the amazing souls I've found throughout the years. I'm happy to see that this little boy is continuing the compassion that so many have lost.

This is a great story which I just shared on my board yesterday as well. I like to think that most people do retain their compassion into adulthood. As for others, the innocence of youth probably starts to exit in the teen years when they feel the world revolves around them.

I think sometimes we are so wrapped up in our own life that we don't really notice other people. Or we do notice, but are too afraid to take a risk and open up to that person.

I think sometimes we are so wrapped up in our own life that we don't really notice other people. Or we do notice, but are too afraid to take a risk and open up to that person. I'm not ashamed to admit my primary focus during my early adult years was on my own 'success'. To some extent that's taught to us. But I've grown to learn that another facet of success is leaving the world a bit better just because you've been a part of it. And often the greatest impact is made in small, personal ways just like we see in the OP of this thread.

That is way too adorably sweet, this is the best post in this thread.
I ask myself the same question everyday, there's just way too much hate and anger, people are depressing, it's only once in awhile I run into people who are just as compassionate but, it's not often.

This is really sweet I do like to think the kind acts outnumber anything else but just not all make the news. People seem to tend to post more online when they have a problem or a complaint than something positive to share even if its a small thing.

i think that i may ask you Scott "why the subject is this is so cool" ? Probably because a subject line that properly describes how awesomely beautiful this is, would require far too many characters.
