CrazyBoy , I took a look at your forum rules. I agree with Beckea 's post above in that you should use your own words. Also, as I am a veteran forum Moderator, I can tell you that your rules are an eyesore. What that means is, it is all crammed together and makes it difficult to read. I also noticed you used "forum" a lot, when the context is directing me to believe that you meant "board", so you have incorrect terminology in there. So, in addition to Beckea 's suggestion that you need to re-word, or paraphrase, your rules, you should also make them look more organized and not all jammed together. You do not need to have every rule showing on a screenful - that is why browsers have scrollbars. I need to put them on a post or it's fine to put them on a custom page ?

Maybe you should first write up your own set of rules. Post them here and we can help you with your spelling and grammar. You have this written on your page right now: No it's not. A lot of your rules have nothing to do with your forum. Be yourself. Write them yourself. Don't copy and paste from another website. Keep them short and simple if you expect people to actually read them.

I rewrote them, but now they sound too much like me, and too little like you. You are free to use this if you'd like.
Forum Rules and Regulations:
1. Please show respect for all members. Do not ask anyone to disclose any of their personal information. Do not share your password with anyone. Members are allowed to have one account per person. Additional accounts are subject to removal.
2. Please follow all local and international laws. Do not post anything that would be illegal in any area.
3. Posts containing only a smiley face are considered spam and will be removed. Please be mindful of where you post your topic. Topics that are posted in the incorrect board may be moved to the correct board.
4. Please do not post content that links to your product or service. PM a staff member to request permission to advertise on or affiliate with our website.
5. If you receive a PM from a staff member, please respond to the PM in a timely fashion.
6. Please check the forum rules weekly as they may be updated or amended.

sla May I ask is ths Ismail and why the change in user names again? It's best to stick with one user name so we get to know you instead of being confused over the different names. Also, I had helped you rewrite your forum guidelines and it appears you went in and changed the wording which is very hard to follow, and too detailed. We had simplified your forum rules and I am surprised to see the change. The guidelines would be attractive to members if they are written with a down to earth wording and easy to understand. Forum guidelines should not be dictated, but should show warmth and personality from the forum owner.

Placing your rules on a custom page is fine. On a forum I am a Moderator on, they did theirs on a custom page and even got a little fancy with it. You can read those rules here. You can click on one of the top numbered items to be taken to its description below. You don't need to be that fancy, but you can see how they are organized (numbered) and having spacing between them to make them easier to read.

He should be able to answer that question, as I have not learned that yet. I can do your basic link, but not linking to something on the same page. As I am only a Moderator there, I do not have access to the code used.

sla , You do not need these parts (see attachment) -- members can always refer back to your rules if they need to. Also, as you are using the title Forum Rules, it will be assumed that they are important. Maybe when a new member comes in just refer to it for them to read. Like for instance: Friendly Reminder: Review our forum rules..... (or something in those lines.) Most users coming on will assume you will have rules and would be looking for a link or a forum that has them. It is those members that you would not necessarily have to be concerned with. It is others that are not there to be part of your forum but to make trouble and sadly they don't care either way what you have posted because they will not obey (or even read them). Attachments:

This is important because 1 uses HTML and the other uses BBCode - and the formatting is a bit different as well. EDIT: As a side note, this part: would turn me away from a forum in a heartbeat. It just sounds to bossy/pushy and makes me think the forum is ruled by a dictator. Just my thoughts.

I am going to say this to sla *Ismail.* I did a lot of work on your forum. I looked for the right images and posted them in "Categories & Boards." I set up your boards. I helped edit several of your themes and I spent time rewriting the guidelines only to see that you erased them and put your own cut and pasted rules, and they make no sense for your forum. I also notice that you talk disrespectfully to a couple of members on my forum, stating that you are younger and can learn faster. I also notice that you use "tear smiley" faces when you want members to feel sorry for you. I suggest to anyone trying to help Ismail in this thread to be concerned about your time that you put in with him. I hope anyone reading this will take this as a warning with my good intentions.
