My apologies if I already missed a thread on this, but the MLB Postseason starts tonight with a Wild Card game. Who do you see making it to the World Series? Who do you see winning? NATIONAL LEAGUE TEAMS: Dodgers Braves Cardinals Brewers Nationals AMERICAN LEAGUE TEAMS: Astros Twins Yankees Rays Athletics I love this time of year! Especially since my team is back in the postseason.

I love this time of year! Especially since my team is back in the postseason. My home team (Tigers) won't see the postseason for several years. They won this year's Hoover award. (They get the top draft pick next June.) So I'm going with my adopted team (Astros) to win against the Braves in the WS. btw, who's your home team?

My preferred matchup would be Brewers vs. Rays, because then we're guaranteed to see a team that's never won a World Series before get their first (I think). However, everyone else seems to consider this matchup to be a) terrible and b) highly unlikely, so I guess I'm alone in that. I'm not super into baseball, so I'm fine with anyone but the Yankees winning. Out of the ten teams listed, though, I'd go with the A's as my favorite. The Phillies were too terrible to make the post-season, so I might as well root for a former Philadelphia team instead.

I'll try to say this as diplomatically as possible. If MLB was a pair of tighty-whities, Ryan Braun would be the skid marks.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Jankees. St. Louis wins it, yes I am a homer!

Thankfully it's not the Cubs since I'm never a fan of that team, but sadly my Badgers didn't advance. Maybe next season.

Too bad about the Brewers last night. That was a costly error, so we know we won't be seeing the Brewers advance. We find out tonight who has more juice: The A's or the Rays. Should be a good game. My team is the Cardinals. I'd love to see them go to the World Series, but they have to figure out a way to beat the Dodgers...unless the Nationals can manage that for us. Right now, I'm focused on one series at a time, so let's hope the Braves suck.

Yeah, I saw a recap of it on MLB Tonight earlier and it was very costly. But look at it this way, the Brewers gotta be proud of themselves for making it this far.

Yeah, I saw a recap of it on MLB Tonight earlier and it was very costly. But look at it this way, the Brewers gotta be proud of themselves for making it this far. Especially with losing their MVP candidate. Just imagine if they could have gone as far as they did last year. Not a surprise that the Nationals faltered against the Dodgers. That could easily be a sweep even though Washington has some great starting pitching. The Cardinals and Braves had a crazy first game. I'm excited about tonight. Go Cardinals!

Well, the Cardinals pooched it last night. *Sigh*
A terrific performance by their veteran pitcher wasted in the 9th inning and of course the offense stalled again. They are playing against the wall, so that might be their saving grace this year.

National League:
Braves vs Cardinals On Sunday morning, the Cardinals had a slight edge. Having split the two games in Atlanta, they had a home field advantage. But after Cardinals loss on Sunday, the advantage now shifts to the Braves since they have a 2-1 lead in the series. If the Braves win one more game, the Cardinals are eliminated. The Cardinals must win two, to advance.
Dodgers vs Nationals Much the same situation on Sunday morning. Having split the games in LA, the Nationals had a slight edge due to home field advantage. Two of the remaining three games were scheduled in Washington. But since the won the first game in Washington, the Nationals are facing elimination if they lose either of the next two scheduled games.
American League: Astros vs Rays The Astros have a 2-0 series lead, going into Tampa Bay today. The Ray must win three in a row to advance.
Yankees vs Twins Like the Astros, the Yankees have a stranglehold on the series, going into Minnesota with a 2-0 series lead.
There are four Divisional series games scheduled tonight. There might be four celebrations.

I didn't catch up with the Dodgers last night, but it will not surprise me if they beat up on the Nationals. The Nationals are a good team overall, but I'm not sure they can outlast the Dodgers in a best of five.
The Cardinals games are going to give me heart attacks. Wasting Wainwright's great outing on Sunday and then just barely beating up on the Braves to force a Game 5. I want the Cardinals to win the series, but I honestly have no idea if they can.

HoudiniDerek, I really can't say I would bet one way or the other on either of the NLDS matchups. I think the Nats could survive. Since both games tomorrow will be a fifth and final game, all four teams will be pulling out all the stops. Of the four possible celebrations yesterday, only one occurred. The Yankees swept the Twins in the minimum three games. The Twins never seemed like they were in it at all. Charlie Morton was amazing in Game 3 against the Astros (and Greinke was pretty awful) but I think Houston will be celebrating tonight. Verlander insisted on starting today's game even though he'll be on short rest. Hinch has given him the nod to do so. www.si.com/mlb/2019/10/08/verlander-insists-starting-game-4-astros-rays

I'd love to see the Dodgers win but it's much more likely that they even get as far as the WS and then completely embarrass themselves. I love them but my expectations are low. I feel like as soon as they face the Cardinals it's over, but I'll keep watching just in case! (If they can win game five against the Nationals tomorrow, anyway.)
