I have a few questions!
Why do you do photography?
Hobby? professional?
As a creative photographer what is the most challenging shot you've done? I.e. water splashing when someone ran through it, anything to do with fire, or whatever else!
What do you prefer? Portraits? (humans) landscape? (land, buildings, sky, etc)
What camera do you use and the lens?
What's your dream camera/setup?
When did you know you wanted to get into photography?
And what program you edit in?
Feel free to post your shots!
---
I do it on and off, hobby mainly because I don't do it enough. But I like to capture moments, the sky, trees, anything really.
I haven't done anything creative yet. I took photos of flying geese. Lol. Did a portrait of my wife at the park. But I prefer land, abandoned buildings, and the sky, flowers, trees, garden ornaments.
I actually use a Canon 80D with a Canon 18-135 lens f3.5 but I also have a 500mm lens, just rarely use it. I will this summer though!
My dream camera for videography is the Black Magic pocket 4k cinema camera and a Canon EOS R. But the 90D looks promising!
I also have a Canon G7X Mark II and its decent!
I got into photography because I already had the camera for YouTube, and I've been watching a lot of photography channels to learn.
I enjoy it and eventually want to do it professionaly. But I hear from every professional is to stay away from weddings as it's very difficult, low lighting can be an issue, but having a flash point up I hear works. But then you have everyone with a phone jumping in front of the shot and you lose that perfect moment.
So that's the main reason why I like land, buildings, birds, etc, and doing personal shots of my wife. Lol.
I edit in Adobe Lightroom btw!
My editing could be better, but as a beginner it looks decent!

My main hobby isn't photography, but I still love it. I've done landscape, portrait, and macro photography, but I did a few cosplay shoots, too. The most challenging thing was probably shooting for a band as they performed; the low light and all the action was very different from anything I'd done before, but it was a lot of fun. I definitely learned more about my camera from doing a bunch of different shoots. I've been lucky to get some people who are very comfortable in front of a camera so there's been no awkwardness and everything seems pretty natural.
Right now I've got a Nikon D7100, and my 50mm lens is my main and favorite. I keep meaning to start using Lightroom, but for now it's mostly Photoshop.
I don't know that I'd do this professionally because of the stress, but I like doing it as a volunteer, and I've had the opportunity to do a bunch of different things with it, so I think I'll keep it up. I worked at a business consulting company for a few years that mostly worked with wedding photographers, and most of them were lovely, but it really got me thinking about how much I wanted to do this for more than just fun lol.

I enjoyed doing photography because it allowed me to see things that I wasn't normally able to, as I am very nearsighted. I have links to all of my social media in my signature, my Reddit and Flickr should be there with my photographs from high school and college.

My editing could be better, but as a beginner it looks decent! So many questions.. I started off doing photography as a hobby, then made some money out of it doing the odd client shoot and event gig, and really did seriously consider it as a career. But I've come to the recent conclusion that I much prefer it as a creative outlet and occasional side hustle, than to promote and pursue it as a business. I prefer portraits, specifically fashion and fine art, as well as family and engagement portrait sessions. Tried landscape and nature and night photography, but it just wasn't for me. I enjoy creating stories, and capturing the vast spectrum of human emotions. My current camera is a Nikon D610, of which I'm perfectly happy with, and not looking to upgrade any time soon. I shoot primarily with a 50mm 1.4 lens, and a 28mm 1.8 lens. Would love to purchase a particular zoom lens down the line, but I'm in no rush (and also lacking in funds..). I shoot in RAW, and edit in Lightroom. I use Photoshop for retouching, creative image manipulation, or just for a wider range of editing tools.

I'd say try a few gigs here and there honestly. If I knew people to practice on besides my wife, I'd give it a shot like that! Lol. I have links to all of my social media in my signature, my Reddit and Flickr should be there with my photographs from high school and college. That's the beauty of photography. I don't have eye issues. But I notice new things every time I press that shutter button. Its wonderful! Not on a PC atm, but when I do, I'll check out your signature. I have a few questions! Yeah, i don't have much people to go off of for capturing emotions and a story. But I do have land and a beautiful sunset behind out house. Haha.
