To answer the original question: yes, the added sugars are already included in the total sugar value. This line simply tells you how much of the total sugars are derived from additives. It’s a new value that wasn’t present on labels until fairly recently (a year or so?), but will be required on all food labels in the US starting next year. For future reference, any indented line on the “Nutrition Facts” portion of a label is simply a subset of the nearest non-indented line above it and is already calculated as part of the total. Food items presented as healthy (or healthi er) can no longer hide behind natural ingredients. If you have a fruit-based snack, for example, you might not think too much of the sugar content because various fruits contain a lot of sugar and thus anything made with real fruit would also have a lot of sugar. An unavoidable outcome, right? Well, perhaps, but now you can see just how much of the sugar was added to sweeten the item and make an alternative choice for a more “honest” product. Thanks for clearing that up. Yeah one thing I just learned and never paid any attention to in the past, chocolate milk has a ton of carbs and sugar. And so does my light and fit yogurt which blows my mind.

I’m trying to quit smoking too and I swear it’s easier to quit eating then it is to quit smoking I ended up in hospital 2 years gone Dec 7, 2017, with a collapsed left lung, the surgeon said it was a blister that had burst and caused the lung to collapse, and in a roundabout way indicated it was caused by smoking, I spent two weeks in hospital, had an operation and when I left the hospital that was me and I stopped smoking. I am not saying end up in hospital to stop smoking but try a little bit of willpower and belief in yourself and you can stop, my son put this (below) on my mobile and I look at it every day and it helps, I showed my doctor who asked if she could use the link for a lot of her patients who are trying to stop smoking, she said it was brilliant.

And so does my light and fit yogurt which blows my mind. Plain, unflavored yogurt is better in that regard, but it’s not palatable to everyone. Mixing in some fresh fruit can help with the taste. Yogurt is a great for when you’re on a diet because it contains a high protein content. Protein is an appetite suppressant, so it’s a necessity if you want to shed pounds. Yogurt also has a unique consistency (go ahead, chew a spoonful, it won’t change it at all) that helps fill the stomach. As consumers, we’re taught a pretty narrow view of what to look for in our food when we want to eat healthy or go on a diet. Yogurt defies that typical definition, but it’s really quite invaluable if you can stomach it.

What app is that? That form of positive reinforcement undoubtedly goes a long way in helping people quit and I’d like to introduce my mother to that app. Kudos on having the willpower to quit.

Not a big fan of the yogurts with fruit on the bottom or even the Greek yogurt many people seem to love. I tried that before and I felt it had a weird taste to it. Maybe I will have to try a plain yogurt since I only use it in my smoothies and I think the fruit I add into it would kill the plainness of the yogurt.

Yeah, Greek yogurt definitely has a special taste. It takes getting used to. In a smoothie it might be fine, I don’t know, but unflavored Greek by itself is rather unpleasant.

If it's not the vanilla flavored one it tastes like dirty wet almonds to me which is blah. But in a smoothie it's fine. So maybe I will try the Greek yogurt in smoothie. I just hope to survive the Greek stuff.
