This isn't a JavaScript issue, it's a CSS issue.

Admin > Layout Templates > Forum Wrapper
Look for this line of code:
{if $[navigation.tree]} <div id="navigation-tree"> $[navigation.tree] </div> {/if}
You can either remove it by deleting it (which I don't recommend in case you ever need it) or you can replace it with this:
<!--{if $[navigation.tree]} <div id="navigation-tree"> $[navigation.tree] </div> {/if}-->
By adding the arrows exactly like that..it tells it to ignore that line of code and will remove the navigation tree.

elli sorry i can't link you Tiffy-Bean this not what i want Ok to clearify more when i open then nav i made the navigation tree appear there,this why i said JS to remove it when i open my nav
