Any of you have broken a bone before? Just got my second break, and I spent an hour and a half in the ER last night. Broke my left wrist in a spot that was apparently a good spot to break, because of it not affecting other bones in the wrist and hand.

Any of you have broken a bone before? Just once. Like you, it was on my left wrist. It was originally diagnosed as a sprain. It didn't show up on the first x-ray because it was an 'incomplete hairline fracture'. Hurt like the Dickens and took forever to heal. For over a year it barked at me whenever I lifted anything heavy.

No full breaks, only incomplete fractures:
- Middle finger on my right hand, playing basketball in middle school (it's crooked now) - Right elbow, slipped on ice in my parents' driveway two Christmases ago - Tailbone, knocked down by another person while rollerblading
I never ended up going to the doctor for my elbow to confirm a fracture, but I fell hard enough and it hurt for about a month, so it was definitely more than just a bruise.

Broke my arm, wrist & jaw in my army days, and then my ribs & finger after I left the army and had my nose broken a couple of times when I was boxing, that's about all really

This is a rite of passage that I have never gone through. And I'm not really bothered about that.

I hope you feel better soon!
Somehow I've managed to never break a bone, and I think I only ever had one sprain. Sports and athletics were my life for about fifteen years so I feel pretty lucky.

Ouch. Hopefully it heals quickly.
I have broken my right shoulder twice in the exact same spot. Apparently that's nearly impossible to do.
I have fractured my left wrist once as well.
Otherwise, I think I'm good.

Yeah, after the first time, most folks are smart enough to kick the door in or use a battering ram. 😛 I wish I could chalk it up to my own stupidity. Somehow, I got injured by others twice and they broke the exact same spot. The doctor was amazed the second time because he said bones rarely break in the same spot due to the scar tissue. *Shrugs* I'm hopefully done with broken bones.

The doctor was amazed the second time because he said bones rarely break in the same spot due to the scar tissue. *Shrugs* That sounds reasonable. But I reckon that depends on how completely the break had healed. Surely, early in the healing process, the break would be weaker than the rest of the bone. But I would imagine it's possible the way our bodies repair breaks, would make the formerly broken region stronger than the rest of the bone.

My foot and this was way back when, when they still used hard casts - thank goodness it was my left foot.
Funny story -I did it while getting out of bed.
I had a habit of hitting the snooze button, so brilliant me thought moving it to the other side of the room was a good idea. I never once thought of the consequences of what would happen if my foot/ankle fell asleep while I was asleep. Well, now we know what happens.
I didn't realize I had done anything to myself and went to work in sky-high heels and walked around like that for a couple of hours too!
