?anna? , As I have already stated, it's a ProBoards limitation, there is nothing I can do. Sorry. Is it possible to reduce the "storage time" for trophies and levels. A lot of us can log in to our forums with different browsers at work during breaks, but if the storage time for earned levels + trophies is 12 hours or more we'll have our levels reduced + trophies deleted on a daily basis.
One of our members says he was demoted 3 levels and always uses the same iPod + browser. Could something else be causing these demotions?

?anna? , If the trophies have not been synced, and they switch to a different browser, then yes, they will lose them. Due to restrictions on how I can update the key (ProBoards limitation), I need to store it in the browsers storage and then update the key when the user does something such as post a message. My home PC uses Google Chrome at the moment because all the task bars on Firefox were strangely deleted after Windows 10 came. My cell phone runs on Firefox, which is my favorite. It's sad that you can't seem to remedy this. This means members fearing the loss of level ranks + trophies will avoid logging in to our forum with computers or cell phones using a different browser and this would diminish our forum activity.
I hope you find a solution.

- Me or some of my forum members have lost their trophies Trophies are stored locally for each user until they are synced to the account. If the user decides to use another browser before the trophies are synced, then they will have to earn them again. Trophies are synced to the account when a user posts or sends a message. This is due to the limitations of how plugin developers are allowed to set key data. I may consider adding in more places to sync the data Hi Peter , Many of our members have suddenly been demoted at least 3 levels and I assume trophies disappeared too.
So you're saying that if someone uses Firefox, Google Chrome + Internet Explorer together trophies will be taken and the earned level will be diminished? I use a lot of internet café computers and the browsers may not be my choice then.

I don't have a means of checking your key history for that plugin. I can only see what's presently visible. Could abusing the dislike function be causing the sudden demotions of members 2 or more levels down on this level/trophy system? None of these members did anything wrong. I haven't been watching the trophies, but suspect they disappear too.
Are such demotions normal with this rating system Brian ?

Technically speaking, due to the nature of Javascript and depending on your key settings the data saved to plugin keys can be manipulated if a user knows exactly what they're doing. However, this is not a simple feat to accomplish. Some of our members have been suddenly pushed down as many as 3 levels on this Level/Trophy rating system. At the moment the same member who massively abused the dislike system has the highest rating according to this Java system at Level 17 with 23 trophies. Now I have the impression the system is frozen in place. I've heard of dark web sites that have the know how to disrupt websites and forums with names like "TrollsUs", etc.. For a fee they'll allegedly instruct or do the bidding of someone and cause problems for websites.
Can the history and functioning of our Level/Trophy system be monitored and double checked to see if it has been manipulated?
for your help Brian !

Brian can the Level + Trophy ratings be influenced or manipulated by members or anyone for that matter. Is this supposed to an "impartial system" that runs on it's own?

Hi, ?anna? . The dislike button is added via a plugin, so you'd need to contact the plugin author to get any sort of notifications built into the plugin. Based on what I'm able to see the Dislike System plugin is still active on the forum. It looks like you disabled the Dislike System Companion plugin and not the Dislike System plugin itself. We do not have a tool that allows us to immediately pull up who is liking or disliking posts on the forum. However, if you visit the recent posts of a user who is receiving an overabundance of likes on the forum you should be able to see who is liking each of their posts and narrow it down relatively easily. Thanks Brian ! I'll informe our admins, who are overburdened at the moment.
I suspect the abuser may be disliking old posts in forgotten threads. Either that or maybe there's a flaw in the works and you can dislike the same post over and over to slam someone....just a suspicion.

Forum URL: gibbysplace.freeforums.net/forum We have always allowed our members to like ( or dislike although this function is invisible now ) as many posts as they wish instead of restricting the likes/dislikes to one an hour. Unfortunately we may have an abuser on the forum.
We also had this level/trophy rating installed recently. The suspected abuser's rating soared to level 17 the highest on the forum and his trophy number increased while the ratings of other highly ranked members' mysteriously declined. I suspect the likes or dislikes can be increased on the same posts by liking/disliking repeatedly or perhaps the abuser seeks out old posts that are not viewed and likes/dislikes them. On our forum it is possible to like one's own posts. Our admin supposedly disabled the Dislike Plug in, but it still appears on posts. Perhaps it is still active. We are not informed if someone dislikes our posts. How can we activate this function?
If the dislike button is disabled why does it still appear on posts?
Is it possible to determine and prove beyond doubt who is posting this excessive number of likes and dislikes ( assuming the later is not truly disabled )? I know for a fact that before the upgrades another pb admin identified all the abusers of the like/dislike system and revealed these members on her forum. Can this still be done?
Also can an admin modify away the excessive likes and dislikes given to lower the status of members' profiles and like up his own status? At the moment likes are only visible on the mini profile and dislikes are invisible.

That's correct. The closest available thing is the "# viewing" counts next to board names and the list of users viewing a particular board in the Board Information & Statistics below the thread list of each respective board. Are the identities revealed or kept secret?
I imagine a sharp eyed admin ( or even a member ) can follow what someone is viewing, if only that person is on the forum at the time and no one else.

Hi, ?anna? . You can see what a user has posted through the method mentioned in the previous post but you wouldn't be able to track the exact pages that they viewed on the forum. So that means Admins are not capable of monitoring what someone, member or visitor, simply views?
Can we rule out special "CIA spyware" too?

Anyone can see a poster's previous posts by going to that poster's Profile and clicking on Recent Posts. That would tell you where that poster has been posting. I have no idea if there's a plug-in that does this, but I know checking Recent Posts would give that information. Of course most forums such as this one allow you to view the previous posts of a member, if you're a member too.
The talk here is about an admin ( and maybe staff function ) function which allows following what the member ( or possibly a visitor with IP identification only ) viewed. If for example I viewed someone's personal profile + 2 other threads here without posting could this "viewing only" be monitored by an admin or staff here?

Forum URL: gibbysplace.freeforums.net/forum One of the forum admins said it was possible to follow where a member goes on a forum and claims to have done this. If this is possible without added software how is it done?

If you tick the box next to "I am 13+ years old ... " a box should show up that will allow you to change the birthday currently showing. Don't forget to save the changes when you're through. I guess I was just confused by the example birthday ( e.g. ) that the box shows when you click it. Thanks.

Forum URL: gibbysplace.freeforums.net/forumHow can a false birthdate be corrected? My Global Account has my correct birthdate, but a mistaken false birthdate was entered on the first pb I ever joined and it doesn't seem possible to correct it. On the pic above the change birthdate button doesn't change anything.

I was having trouble starting my PC lately and it was logging into the same site a dozen times or more when I started it. Maybe that caused the trouble. I'm no computer wizard and I let the problem grow. On one pb forum and only one I remained unbanned and was able to post and pm normally.
I deleted a bunch of junk data on my PC and deleted some programs that I never use. I hope the problem is solved now.
I do feel it's unfair that CloudFlair claimed the website owner apparently meaning the admin banned me. This could cause a lot of unneccesary drama, if Cloudware's claim is believed. Gibby was shocked and would never ban me nor would the admins on the other forum where I got Cloudware's ban and false claim. Cloudware isn't the forum owner or is it?
Thanks for your concern RickyZ. ProBoards pays for the Cloudflare integration, so in Cloudflare's eyes Proboards are the owner of the website. Since the ban was put in place based on settings we provided, we technically banned the connection so the message reads that the website owner banned the connection. I don't believe we're able to customize the message, unfortunately. If you've been banned by the forum admin, you would get a message that simply reads "You have been banned from this forum." -- otherwise the 1006 or 1007 error pages would be on a service level either from ProBoards or Cloudflare, despite what the message reads. Hopefully this helps clarify That is unfortunate that the claim that the forum owner banned you can't be replaced with something truthful like "CloudFlair security has banned your IP". A brief explanation where the problem may lie would be helpful too. Maybe CloudFlair can update this in time to spare forum admins, etc. from unjust suspicions. It certainly wouldn't hurt to enquire.
Thanks again RickyZ! You get my vote as proboards MVP!
