I was attempting to start up one of my games on my PS2 today, which was LOTR: The Third age,and it came up with a disc read error, instead of playing the game, and all my other games work so i took the game to the store to investigate why and they said it may be because i have a first generation PS2 system, and that may cause some games not to work, anyone else ever seen this anywhere? I had a similar problem with another game, and becuase the back of the disk was a purple disk, it wouldnt work with some ps2's

The bottom of my disk is not blue or purple, which means that something has to be messed up here.

actually,i call using the PSP having lived As I stated before you you mentioned to get a PSP, If you can find a way to get PS2 games to run on it then we would consider your idea. Now in my first response I reccommended that you could try replacing the lazer reader in your PS2. I did that on my Brother's Gen1 PS2 and it solved al his playing problems. He could play all of his games (Some sterted giving the Disk REad error), as well as ALL of his DVD's were working as well! This could be your solution: www.richspsxparts.com/dres.htmlIt was for me. The gear in my bro's unit was toasted. So I got a repacement one and it was all better! Best of all it is not expansive! around $10.00!!!

That may be the case,i do get a grinding sound when i put in LOTR: The Third age,but thats the only game so far thats given me problems.
I should check my other games, see if they run.
