What programs would you use to code a site? On a mac OS X? I've tried text edit and simple text, but when i try to view as web page, it just shows me the codes. thats what Word does too. so how do i code my own website, and preview it in a browser while i'm making it?
btw i tried to use dreamweaver but dreamweaver won't install on my computer for some reason. Flash and Fireworks did, though.

When you save the text file, make sure you save it as filename.html. You should then have the ability to open it with your web browser

What problem does Dreamweaver have on your system?
You could get a free HTML Editor like AceHTML. Look around at Download.com and SoftPedia.

If I'm using a wysiwyg editor I use netscape composer. I've tried bloody loads and it is the simplest with the best effects IMO. I cannot STAND front page, and dreamweaver scares me

Hi All, I am very new to proboards....just created one. I am wondering "where" to put my html?
I am with a horse rescue group and we want to track our horses. Where they are, what vet work has been done on each horse, whether the horse has been adopted, adoption fee paid, location of horse etc. We have several volunteers working with the horses, so we need to be able to see at a glance whether the horse is still available. I woud like to make a form that just has checkboxes for these things, so the volunteers can quickly hop into that particular horses thread and add to the form (check boxes). I can of course design the form in html, but how do I get html into the forums/threads?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, as long as you relay them in 101 language. Thanks in Advance!!!

You could get a free HTML Editor like AceHTML. Look around at Download.com and SoftPedia. I can't download any HTML editors...this computer is not cooperating when I try such things. And for Dreamweaver, I get a message that says something about an error anmd privelages or something. I'll screenshot it soon, so you can see exactly what it says. As far as I know, there's not really a difference between htm and html. I've just always used html

.htm will work in older browsers / systems, that still use 8.3 naming system. The new ones can go up to - some number above 200 / 4.
