I think one of the reasons I have gained so many active members on my site is that I'm willing to be just as insane as the next guy while still keeping within the boundaries of the rules. Even when I greet somebody new in the introductions thread, I will make a funny comment about how they've now entered the insane asylum and there is no turning back. I've never had a single new member run from that. I usually get a laugh and a comment about how they know they'll fit in now. I get new members who say "I love to write, but it isn't the best." and I'll make sure to reassure them that none of us on the site are professional writers and we could all use some help. This puts them at ease and makes them feel more open about posting some of their writing.
I've divided my site up into 4 main categories (one is brand new) The first one is the Welcome section and this area holds all of the introductions, rules, suggestions, complaints, away and back again, useful links, advertise your site, and our newsletter. (interestingly enough, in our newsletter section I added a subboard called "Dear Lannorui" It has been one of our biggest successes because I get a mix of serious questions to answer and goofy questions as well that I have no problem giving goofy answers to ie: Dear Lann

Next, I have the Writer's Corner. Here we have our Poem of the Month, Member of the Month, and Short Story Competition. We have our categories for the poems, we have our stories section split into different subboards of Fan Fiction, Short Stories, etc, we have our writing discussion sections and then our RP's.
Now, the next section, (Relaxation Corner) is where we see that Me as the admin can do more than just be somebody there reading or posting things solely about writing. After a while of that, it could be boring if you don't have an admin that is willing to have some fun with their members as well. I have the rule and strictly enforce it that the two previous sections are mostly On Topic threads. In a discussion thread, there could be a little swaying from the topic, but not much leeway is given with it. So, I've made sure that there are plenty of sections where randomness can abound and this is the section for it. This is the section where my members have found that I as the admin, am willing to kick back and have just as much fun as they do. We have the coffee shop where we can just hang out and chat about anything and the randomness in there has at times been so off the wall that it has left a person gasping for breath from laughing. When some of my members had "bodies" to hide we created a new thread called the Crypt and originally, to give it more of a laugh, I put it in the Party section. My members loved it! They love seeing me join them in some of that off the wall craziness. We love sharing our writing but we also love sharing fun. When new members have joined, I will eventually find a "custom title" that fits them. I have The Cookie Monster, Crazed Pilot, Mr. Undertaker, Puppet Master, etc. They love the fact that I find ways to distinguish them and then give it to them as a custom title. They even gave me one finally. I'm the All Powerful Admin or A.P.A. We even have an A.P.A.'s Bodyguard... not that it helps much considering he is one of the biggest ones to blow me up... it's all good....
Our last section is for special events, but this is an entirely new section so it's just getting started.
Personally, I don't think it's a problem having an Admin that is willing to get down there and have just as much fun as all the other members. I personally think it's a blast interacting with my members like this. Now, that's not to say that everyday we're blowing each other up and hiding the bodies in The Crypt, there are days we just hang out and have a few laughs and discuss the day, but when it does get crazy, even I love getting crazy with my members. I'll give you an example. We had one day that our poor Crypt and Undertaker was kept extremely busy. Even I died a few times... we made a tally at the end of the day... this is it...

This privilege was also shared with Hiruma, beaten with ‘evil laugh’ sign, Lawliet chopped off my head… not a good thing to happen to the A.P.A.
Uryu ~ twice ~ Chuck Norris Round house kick, the REAL Uryu killed by Lann
L ~ 9 times ~ Slaughtered by machete, Killed with own hand grenade, Killed by Ace with some type of gun, Killed by Hiruma, first by nuke, next by lann turning me into a spot on the road, Head ripped off by Hiruma, hit with a poo poo bomb, gutted like a fish by Hiruma,
Lee ~ 4 times ~ Killed by Uryu’s Claymore, Kicked in the crotch after stabbing Hiruma in dark hole, Lann splattered Lee with an anvil as his prize for killing Hiruma in a dark hole, Pushed in front of a bus at a bus stop by Lann,
Hiruma ~ TOO MANY TIMES TO COUNT!!! ~ Killed, burned, and exorcised, killed with grenade by Lawliet, Head cut off by Lawliet, Killed with a 3 day old dead smelly fish stuffed down his throat by Lann, killed with a spoon by Lann, Killed by own hand, but Lann renounced such killing as it spoils her fun as the A.P.A. of killing hiruma, so she rekilled him, He was still twitching, so he was made the local scarecrow, Killed by crows while in the duty of the scarecrow, hiruma became a crow and was shot with a shotgun by Lann, was used for batting practice by Lann….twice, became a spot on the road after being beaten with a sledgehammer by Lann, Lann then plucked all the feathers off the crow, Lann decides roasted crow sounds good, pulled into a dark hole and stabbed by Lee. Lee later wonders what he wins. See Lee’s name for his prize… Blown up with a bomb down pants, then pushed onto spike strips, was turned from a crow to a pig and skewered over a roasting fire for dinner, the crow soon joined in the excitement (all done by Lann the A.P.A of course), the abomination was then splattered by anvil… again…. , after unsuccessful poisonous gas attack, was sat on by Lann. Hiruma dropped 30 nukes for a test, however, they were still defective and he’s sent back to the drawing board, Hiruma’s nukes land on him and 30 Uryu clones quickly detonating on them and blowing them to pieces, (I guess they finally worked ) Head cut off by Lawliet, Hiruma’s spirit captured in an echtoplasma machine which was later blown to pieces,

Angel, Emmy, Simi, Electra, and Kin were just some of the fortunate souls that managed to escape tonight unscathed, however, I vow here and now that, that fortune shall not last another day!!!
So, as you can see, as Admin, not only am I willing to allow such craziness on the site and have actually set up places to do it, but I love joining in the fun and quite often, instigate a lot of the craziness... it's just my nature

niceman08) the admin's proboard. It's surprising, really, how important the admin is over even maybe the co-admin. Admins are always expected to be kind people, accepting, and active hopefully. Usually then a proboard will be successful, or hopefully. 
It's just a factor.
