Although I've never used them, I plan to, as I would have things I want to save, such as old character profiles (RPG Board), spam posts, posts with rule breaking, ect. I would personaly like to use a layout which a board has sub-borads, so if a member is looking for something, they can find it. (see layout below) Archive spamhaus [Rule Breaking Posts]
And you could have others. For some reason, SPAM goes to [spam]

I have an Archive Board for Regular Topics and one for Admin Topics. Often with the Admin Topics that go into Archives, it's been something someone was testing and I want to leave it available for them to return to if they forget something or one of the other Admins doesn't remember how to do something.
The regular archives I created are locked and read-only. Like some one else said earlier in this thread, it gives a new member something to read and sometimes they will post a new thread, based on something they read and get a topic going. I am like another person here, I try to not delete anything if I can help it. I'd rather lock/move the threads, then to delete it and later wish it was still there.
