Right now I have 3 admins (they're very good members on the forum, even though one of them mostly has trouble with her internet, she's been getting on as often as she could. And also there's a male and a female admin, not including me, but thye both have pink names! In fact, because of my forum, the male admin has a girlfriend who's a friend of the second admin!), 1 g-mod, and a mod. It's working good for me. (Also, I call the g-mod the "Official Resizer of Pictures" as he can resize huge signature images that can kill my monitor. LOL.) Today I told the moderator (I made her a moderator a few days ago so she's new to it) that if she wanted she could move some threads to subboards (I made a whole bunch of subboards in a board as it was getting messy) for practice on how to move threads. She did very good except for one misplaced thread

An old staff position which I thought up meself (hehhee) is called Supervisor. They can lock, sticky, and move threads. Also, global supervisors are the same, except they have powers to lock, sticky, and move threads on every board. It's good for moderators who are beginners or if you want to test to see if they'll be good moderators. Or just when you don't feel like having more mods, but need them. Anybody can steal borrow the idea, if they like them.

When I'm deciding what staff to choose I look for certain things.
The first is attitude towards other members. Someone who flames members or is insulting to them certainly won't become a staff member. Then I look among my warning list on my computer. If they've had a previous warning then it'll give 1 mark to their name. After that I look at the quality of their posts. If they're good quality its 1 green mark. Then I look at how helpful they are to other members.
My final thing is how well do I know them. Members I don't know that well rarely ever get staff positions above Moderator. Those I do know well can become global moderators or even a co-admin.

The main key is to only promote staff you need for your board. Choosing a staff member for an active board is quite hard, since lots of members will be active. But try and choose the person that participates in the most forums and other things around your board. I don't recommend choosing someone who has requested a position, since they may only want the position and never be active or otherwise to reck your board. I will only promote a staff member on my boards if they have dedicated their time to being active, friendly and a general poster around the forums that interest them. I will certainly only promote them to moderator at first, and as they improve I may promote them to global moderator, but be careful when promoting to an administrator. In most cases, you only need yourself as the administrator. The simple suggestion is, choose staff wisely. Good luck.

I don't know much about staffs or anything, because I'm new to being admin of my own board. But on this one board I was a member of had this Gmod with too much powers, the admin told him that he was breaking on of the rules on the forum, and the Gmod deleted the site, and the profile that went alone with it...How can you tell none of your Gmod or admin will do that to you if you gave him the power?
He could be your best friend, and you guys got into a fight and he deleted it...

When I choose staff, I pick loyal members, usually who dont ask. As far as my staff goes, I have 1 admin (me), 1 gmod, 1 mod, and 2 mini mods.
On mine a mod can Lock, sticky, move threads. reply to locked threads
A mini mod can do the same (exept for reply to locked threads) but just for the boards I choose.

So I was wondering, if any one has any tips on who I shoudlchose for Site General, please tell me. I have 4 members at the moment and if you want more information or want to join, feel free to PM me. (The boards name is The Mystic World of Warfare, its an anmimal RP board).
Please help me, I'm really stuck.

Well, this is not an advertisement board. But here is my tip, wait until you have about ten or twenty members before you chooose another mod. You want to have a variety of members to choose from, and don't tell them that you are looking for a site general, otherwords they will suck up to you big time. Just watch them for a little while and make sure that you put the best ones in the top of your list. Once you think that you have found a couple that you want to be your site general, go to your site deputy and ask him/her what he/she thinks about who you chose and you guys and have a final choice. Then, whoever you choose, PM them and ask them if they want to be a mod, if they say yes, then make them the site general. That's a very good little way on doing it.

I have my own proboard. How do I give full adimrightis to another person. In my forum, I´m admin and another person is admin too. Is it possible to give him the full rights of admin too(sorry my bad english)
He´s not able to do anything in the "member groups" part and he´s not able to delete accounts. How do I give him the right to do those things?

All technical support questions like this should be asked in the Support board, not here as these threads are reserved for discussion. Also, as it says in the rules, there is no reason to ever bump a thread in this board.

One of the worst mistakes you can make in choosing staff for your forum is to trust anyone. I've had members come to me and beg to be staff, telling me they'd do wonderfully and wouldn't let me down. Don't let these people get to you. If they do this, it only displays immaturity and a lack of capacity to truly handle staff positions well. I am very serious in choosing my staff, as one person going astray could ruin my entire site. You have to remember that even if you're the admin, you can't fix everything if someone messes it up enough. Make sure you know who you hire, understand their flaws, and are aware of what they are capable of.
Something I can suggest in applications is to insert a question or two that not only asks them something basic, but underhandedly assesses their personality. I have studied psychology for year and can quickly tell how someone will react to situations and how much I can depend on them by the way the answer questions and other displays of character, such as initiative to help, eagerness to do what they can, a clear understanding of the rules, never asking of questions which have already been explained somewhere else, and the helping and friendliness towards other members. Initiative is a big one with me. They must show that they care enough about the site to try and make it better.
Also, even if someone seems impressive or wonderful initially, this doesn't mean they truly are as great as they seem. Many members start out fervently and excited to be on your forum, but they loose this interest quickly and as soon as you think you can trust them, their zest towards your forum dies down. Make sure they're going to stick through. on't give them positions right away.
This may seem far too untrustworthy of people, but I have had my fair share of experiences with forums and sites and have a good understanding of how people are.
Trusting someone too much can be a deadly flaw to your forum if they have not truly earned that trust.

I agree to every word of what you said. I usually wait to see how the member is later before I decide if they are good enough to be a staff(well, when I am looking for a staff member that is). My newest mod, amph, has been very good to the forum and has promoted it quite a bit. Once two of my mods left the team, I decided to make him a mod in their place, since he has been one of my most trustworthy members, and he is really good at graphics. He has also shown great dedication to the site. Those aspects are things you need to look for when choosing a moderator. Now about the flaws in choosing. Do not choose someone just because they are your friend, if they are your friend, then they will wait for you to ask them to be a mod, no matter how much they want it. SOme more flaws in choosing mods are: - as kingsnake said, choosing people who keep begging
- Making every other member a mod
- Choosing a different mod for each board on a big forum
- Making your friends mods(as I said before)
- Making mods out of people who reference them
Those are a couple that I can think of off the top of my head right now.
