It's mostly the other members. If I can relate to them, and feel I'll fit in well, I'll join the forum usually. That is a good point. I belong to two boards in particular for months and not one person has ever replied to my posts or spoken to me in any way. These two are not Proboards and I am unable to delete my account; however, I would if I could

What draws me to a forum is that, the members are very active, the threads and posts that are made by the members are detailed and keep the thread going, which also helps to keep the fourm alive.

Things that draw me to a site the most would have to be a good solid layout thats not too overdone. A topic which interests me, and that seems like it will continue for a while. The character that you can choose to be. The form you have to fill out for the characters, whether it will take a long time to fill out or just a short period. As well as Friendly and Active Staff, its very important that there freindly.

- Proper spelling; I won't waste my time and energy chatting with people who can't spell to save their lives
- Clean graphics interface; basically any site containing no choppy MS Paint drawings or edits ;D
- Quality over quantity; I enjoy discussing all manner of topics in forums where the content of a post is valued over the amount of total posts
- Non-fad topics; I will never sign up for high-school based RPGs, anime or Harry Potter forums
That's all I could come up with thus far...

-A non-themed board, with plenty of good subject matter to talk about, I dislike boards that have spammers who make "I'm Bored" threads, and that talk about rubbish. RPG's also drive me crazy =P
-I like boards with plenty of members so when talking to them I can get more than one opinion on something. A board with ten members is boring because its the same people posting over and over.
- A board with good spelling and English
-A good looking board, with nice colors that don't strain the eyes too much...
Hm that's about it for now..

I like a board that has active members. Evan if there are only 3 members, if they are active i will most likely join. I will also join if a site has members that are not mean and nasty and who do not spam in other peoples boards. Mainly what i look for in joining a site is its members.

The main thing that will make me consider joining a forum is the professionalism. Forums that are ::
&. coded nicely &. the skin blends well together and isn't clashing or blinding. &. the admins are polite &. the members are as welcoming as the admins &. things are organized and there aren't too many tables or other distracting stuff &. active members.
That pretty much sums it up. Professionalism is very important to me when I look at forums to possibly join.

Do you look for content as well? Or is it any forum that is active with polite members? What about design, are those important as well, just not as important or not?

I tend to be drawn to forums with active, friendly members as well as an understanding administrator. The color scheme must be pleasing, and I don't want to have anything to do with inactive boards. When I look for new boards, I also try to find a well-established community, as it is easier for me to fit into a decent-sized group than in an enormous or tiny one. I love RPG forums; the members of the forum must be literate, as spelling, grammar, etc. problems really frustrate me.

I would usually join a forum if it is active(that is a given). Not to mention I only join RPG forums. So the site would have to be literate and members nice and active staff. Of course there is also the question would you join a brand new site with no members besides the admin? I would say only if it has potential. Well, what does everyone else think? That is what I want to know.

I joined because I liked what I saw and I liked the way the forum was open to expansion...and it has done so. I do not join every site like that I see because content is important too, but it deals with my desire as well.

Signs of life. Once that qualities fulfilled then the rest more than simple.. What are the other qualities? Is it content? Is it the graphics? Is it both? Are you like some where you only join RP forums? I like activity as well, but as long as I like content enough, I will probably join and try to see if I cannot make the site more active by being involved in the forum.
