Yes I do have an archive board on all of my sites it is called the dead threads board. I suppose you have surmised that I use it to store all the dead or inactive threads of the site. I keep it visible to all members and guests as I think it is useful to be able to look back at the threads we have finished, especially if you are a new and confused member. I recently added the post tracker to my sites which is a board where you can have a thread keeping track of all your posts. I think it is useful since you can look at anyones post tracker and see what they have been included in since entering the site. [/blockquote][/font]

At both NRFC and CHS I do ahve Archive boards - both very useful as it helps the members what has already happened, but Wartime Tunnels is in the middle of a revamped and update. I may possible add on as time goes on.

I had one but then my sub admin got mad at me and destroyed them. but i had it for important threads that made up the history of my site ERRRRM your the head admin right? so why did you let him do that, if any member of staff is going to make a significant change to your forum they should ask you. If I were you i'd take away all his powers as admin and leave him as an ordinary member. Archive threads are really good to keep important threads as he said above but alot of threads people just like to read so I just keep all threads to be honest, it just seems easyer.... in my opinion that is....

I have an archive board to store links to my old sites. And it keeps information about games that have finished up (it's a survivor/big brother/amazing race site). i find it useful because it can give guests and members the opportunity to see what the old games were like, and gives them the opportunity to decide whether it's worth signing up for any of my games or not.

I have an archieve on my forum because I think it is a very good way to remember memories of the past. Every forum has it's history, good and bad, and I think it is cool to look back on old threads and get a sense of how a forum developed in time.
On my forum I organise it by category to make things much more organised. An archieve board is a good organisational tool especially for large forums, because it helps to keep things less clustered.

However, in the future could you at least post a minimum of 4 sentences in a post. Perhaps, go into a bit more detail about your experience, and perhaps how you rectified the situation. Maybe even back up your personal opinions to it as well with an explanation. We want more the comments, we want a discussion. :)Thank you.

I have an archive board on my roleplay, but I use it for different reasons sometimes. I have it hidden from non-staff members; this way, I can keep the roleplay looking clean-cut and organized. If anyone ever needs to see an old thread, I can simply move the thread back and allow them to check what they need. Not only does it give the board a less cluttered appearance, it keeps old threads so if anyone ever needs them in the future, they can be easily accessed. It is not uncommon for someone to write a valuable piece of information, yet they forget it later.

I don't have one but am planning on making one. The reason:
I think that when good role play and posts are deleted, It's a bit sad. Think how much work they put into it. Thats one of the horrible things about deleting forums.

An archive is where you store things, similar to a museum or a library. On forums, it is where you store threads that are old or locked for whatever reasons. Maybe you don't want to delete the hard work of the members or maybe you just want to have a record of everything that has gone on. It is very similar to a forum history in some cases.

I most certainly have an archive board. I don't want the main boards cluttered with old finished or dead threads, so I move them there. I would never want to delete any writing that my members create. If the site should ever die and they want to save stuff, I'd like to give them a good shot at getting by having it all saved there and easy to access. Deleting something people put so much effort into is absolutely terrible, and as a member I'd want at least the opportunity to save my work.

I have an archive board on one of roleplay sites, for threads that have passed; for example, a plot that isn't needed anymore, or hasn't been posted on for over two weeks. I keep them in Archives so that members who join, can look back at things they've missed, and other members can take a look at how their character has progressed, or find out a piece of information about their/another character that they may have forgotten.
