In another world where I'm not limited to dial-up and faulty computer systems, I'd express my enthusiasm in having music in any board or even mine provided it's fitting and isn't a distraction for me. Sometimes it can be, depending on what I'm going to be replying to people with as Warren or Justin in my RPG, other times - I can definitely use it to provide a comically well-written and amusing post as far as six or more paragraphs long.
Personally, I'm more fond of silence in general when I'm on a board. If I want music, I have my own stash to play in my hard drive and depending on my mood is how the reply will come out.

When I first started to roleplay and such, I hated the music player on my very first site. it even turned me away from the first song on the list, just because I'd have to go turn the player off every time I changed the page. When I began my very own first site, I went to see if there was anyway of turning off the auto-player. When I figured this out, I loved the music. The thing I hate now is that the player doesn't continue when you refresh, or change the page. : )

I've never had a site where there was music onf it. It was up for debate a few times and we all agreed not to have one for the reason of the auto play. A lot of people sneak on to their computors and the site's creator didn't wish to get people in trouble by having it on there encase the members' speakers were on.

It's a good idea, but usually members get annoyed of some of the songs they don't like that are in the playlist. I personally don't like going to a website with loud music that doesn't match the theme of the website. That's just me.

I think having a music player that fits the sight theme and feel is a wonderful idea as long as autoplay is turned off. I hate when I'm listening to my own music and I get on to a website and I end up with two songs playing. Especially if I dislike the song that's playing. As long as autoplay's off though, I love music players.

Yes, we should be able to add music. How? How? How?

A friend of mine e-mailed a link of a board that he thought I might want to check out. He felt it was a cool site. So of course, I'm sitting at my desk during my lunch hour and finally decided to click the link and the loud music just came out blasting from the speakers! Why, do people think that's cute? Needless to say, I did not even explore the site; I promptly left and deleted my friends e-mail. Anyone who would automatically set music to blast in my ears with no warning, I consider childish and would not have anything in common. So yeah, their site hold no interest after that fact!

What are your opinions on this subject? I had been using an auto play music feature on the forum. Needless to say, no one that I didn't beg into joining, joined. Or the person I knew had others join. Basically, I was the only one really getting any enjoyment out of it. Really, the song was "Can't Touch This" by Mc Hammer. It got old though and I figured that it wasn't doing any good on the forum, so I took it off. Even if I use one that doesn't automatically play when people visit the forum, I'm not convinced to use it because, well.... I don't see much of a point. I only used it to get a kick out of and hope others felt the same way. Obviously not. So I took it off. After that, I found that music on your forum or website was pointless as if someone wanted to listen to music, they would listen to their own music off their computer or portable music player.

I don't like it, merely because every time you refresh the page it starts over. O like listening to music but when you are on a site that you need to refresh to see what's happening more than every three minutes it's pretty much useless unless you are one of those people who never listen to a whole song all at one, which is something that kills me on the inside.

I don't like music on a forum. Not everyone likes the same music, so they might not want to listen to it because it doesn't include their tastes. If the admin takes suggestions from members, Member A could send in a ton of music suggestions while Member B doesn't send in that many, and the music Member A likes is what Member B dislikes. So they might close the site because they don't like any of the music on the playlist. Also, the coding for the playlist could screw around with the rest of the coding. Music can also distract people from thinking. Like if they're RPing and trying to think of what to write, the music might make that harder because the member is too busy singing along with the song than responding to the person they are RPing with. I know not everyone is like this, but some people aren't good at multitasking (like me >.<).

Well, I personally think that music in your forum is alright, but not always. I dislike music players that play automatically, as they annoy most of us with the stopping and the playing and the stopping again. (Well maybe, not most of you encounter this kind of situation, but here the connection is a super pain in the neck, but whatever people say I still love the Philippines.) Buffering takes too long and this tweaks my patience. I, instead, listen to my own downloaded files in my computer. They're more clearer and they don't need to buffer anymore. On the other hand, a forum with music (especially forums that involve music), speaks out their board. I mean if your forum is about an orchestra (let's say a fan site about BeetHoven or WolfGang - yep, people still love them very much ) it would be "nonsense" without the said people's creations or masterpiece. A forum with a music player that only plays when you want it to play is much more soothing. I have noticed lately that most of you grew to hate music players on your forums, but I guess it's your opinions so I should lay off.

I'm usually a fan of music players -- just not on Autoplay. Any kind of music could be potentially be off-putting to some users. Even music that most people consider mild and inoffensive could clash with someone's tastes. But, if you like the music, it could help you while you were posting. A while ago, I knew a site that had two music players, side by side. They were two very different styles of music, and neither were on Autoplay. I found this to be a wonderful solution to the problem.
