I don't rather like music on a forum. I find it distracting and often it can be something I don't like to be listening to. Usually, if there was, I'd put my volume on mute. I usually stay away from music. .

I dont mind music players if the fallowing things fall into play:
1: Its NOT on auto-play 2: It doesn't go back to the first song every-time I go to a new page 3: It dosnt play just ONE type of music
I hate clicking on a page and having music assault me when Im not expecting it. I dont like not being able to turn said music off, because I myself rp with Pandora on. I HATE when it restarts everytime you go to a new page.... tre annoying. And each of my characters have different personalities, so they are inspired by different styles of music.

Some people have issues with playlist at times.. Like their memory on their computer can't loud it right and it messes up the forum itself.
Personally I like it when the very first song has a good beat to start with that way if your refresh the page the beat will be alright at least. However if I don't like that kind of music or that specific singer. Then it greatily irratates me.

I personally like music players it inspires me. Though i agree with am lot of what you all say, even so when i put music on my fourms i always try to put all the music i personally think inspires creative thinking.
Though most people arn't like me i always put it somewhere in big words that the music is a choice and that if anyone wants any other songs just tell me and i'd add it for you specifically. I alwayds also try to think of my members and their characters and add the best music possible. Though i doubt everyone can do that and i do think it's true: repeating, loud, and non-turn off able music players are annoying!

I'm not a fan of music players at all. They can get really annoying, especially when they're on autoplay. If I wanted music to inspire me to write, then I would use my own music.

I'm not very fond of these music players, I mean, everyone has a different taste in music so I think that just letting people listen to whatever is one their computer might be a better idea. Autoplay makes me wanna shoot myself, I'm on very late at times, the rest of the house is asleep and then suddenly this song starts playing... loudly, not good for my heart to be honest xD and mostly there are a lot of issues with it, they don't work or you need a special feature for it that not every computer has. I find that they are more a hassle than a useful addition.

I, personally, like the idea of music on a site. Not only does it, as Artemis stated, increase their muse, but it can help drown out needless things. And most music players would have a pause/play button. And it's pretty easy to turn off Auto-Play. That's my opinion.

I think that music can be a good way to connect people in some ways, as well as possibly open their minds. As someone who likes at least one song from (I would venture to say) all genres, I like people to know that it's not the genre, but the sound and 'experience' of the song that makes it good.
However, it definitely shouldn't be playing automatically. For those who like music constantly playing, they probably already have their own on. I think even in global footers is a bit much, as it just adds space to the bottom of the page, can be distracting, can cause errors, might not go with the colour scheme or style, etc.
I think a good idea to incorporate music without putting it in everyone's face would be a thread in the general board with the player in a post and the option to 'pop it out' in a separate window. Maybe a message in the header saying "Check out our music player here (link)". In that same thread, people could request more songs of their own to put on the player and give feedback if one song doesn't work or is generally disliked. It can start out with, say, three song requests each, and go up if needed. This idea can be expanded on as well. Maybe everyone could have their own playlist. Maybe there are sets of different types, like 'calming', 'instrumental', 'fight themes'.
Also, I apologize if any of this has been said before. I only read the first page or so of replies... but I plan on reading more now.

You should be able to choose even just the genre of music you are interested in rather than it being on auto.

Hi Please note, as per the board rules your posts should be at least 4 sentences long. Please check the rules of each board prior to posting n them. Don't forget to check the general rules too.

I'm not fond on having a constant music player on a forum as I like listening to my music when I surf the web.
If anything, a staff member could provide links to songs on YouTube that would help maximize the "forum experience".

We use you tube and also if we want music on our forum we add it to a picture or something that it may fit to and it's the person's option if they want to click and hear the music or not.

I typically don't like music on forums simply because most staff members will shove a large, inconvenient player in your face and put it on auto-play. The only time I like music (and this is the case for my own site) is when it comes up in a separate window if clicked. This makes it very compact and out of the way, and it also leaves members with the freedom to listen or not to listen. It's simply giving them the choice, which is how it should be in all cases, not "this dumb song plays each time I change the page."
