Website Design Critiques?

For a basic layout, it works pretty well. I think it would work well for a simple blog or something along those lines.

However, I have to agree with everyone else - the background draws way too much attention to itself. I think the stripes are a good idea, just make them thinner to help draw less attention to them.

I don't like the red one, it just hurts my eyes, and the green skin is okay.

I suggest adding some kind of logo, just to make it a little more interesting and less bland. Good job though. Like Anselm said, it's much better than my first layout attempt.

I was just wanting to stay away from logos for awhile, so the page still loads fast. I'm currently working on de-saturating the stripes XD

Okay. Then for your next design, try getting a logo in there, or some kind of image. If you keep going at it, your layouts will look more professional.

Updated the blue skin

I took a quick peek at your other efforts and I think this is a little better but I did kind of forget what they looked like.

Personally, I don't like someone using two very different blues. You have to be pretty good at design to pull off those two colors. The background and border are very cyan-blue and the center background and banner are basic blue (banner with some sort of dark green in it). If you are going to use two different blues you have to tie them in together like having some cyan-blue in your logo or having some text somewhere that is cyan-blue, in my opinon.

You may want to try having those stripes a fixed background because I get dizzy just scrolling that little bit. It may not help though because having it fixed may make one feel things are going at an angle. (I'd have to see it to know for sure.)

I do have to give you kudos for making that layout, though. That's more than a lot of people can do.
