I have an idea for an advanced code i think. If this has already been done just tell me. So i want people on my board to get rewarded for helping on the support board. I would like to make it so that when a person makes a request that when someone helps them they click a button that said that this person helped them and then the person who helped gets points. I would like the on my forum to be based off of the points but only for the coders/graphics mods. Sorry if i didn't explain well enough you can ask questions and i will do my best to answer

that is the part that is bothering me. I wish that the only time someone could click the button would be when they had helped the person....here how about this

Let us say Bob makes a thread in the support board. James comes and helps him with the problem. Joe also helps with the problem but not as much. Bob can see in the profile of James and Joe text that says, "this person helped me." He can click on the button only once per thread so he can't give the points to both James and Joe. The text only shows up when someone posts on the thread and it does not show up in his own thread.

So like for this thread i would see it in your mini profile.

Another feature could be that when the point is given to someone the thread is locked.

As far as I know, the second part isn't possible. You'd have to set a cookie, go back to the board page.. and so on.

The first part: Where in the mini-profile? Below posts? or what? and I have a feeling i won't be able to do this, but I'm just clarifying a few things

Yea i have a feeling this will take a REALLY good coder but i can give the information


I have another idea for it. You could use Karma. Just make it so people can only exalt and change the wording. Make karma only show up if that person has posted on a thread and make it only show up for the maker of the thread. Other things will need to be done but that is a good thing to work with.

I also have an idea for the second thing. Instead of locking the thread is it possable to make it so that when the person clicks the text [RD] shows up in the title of the thread?

For the second idea, you would need to be on the modify post page. (action=modifypost)
Then you would just do
document.postForm.subject.value+="[RD]";

But yeah, you're gonna need Wormo or Eton or Todge or Trublu to do this. (-lacks this knowledge-)

Just curious... how do you want to keep track of how many "helps" a person has?

As far as I know, the Karma system is the only way for other members to edit and store information in another member's account. Right? With that being said, you can enable the Karma System via your General Settings and then utilize a code in the Code Index called "Change Karma Words". If you only want this displayed on select boards, you can use the "change karma words" in the boards' footers. Then, a code could be written to hide the karma actions on all other boards.

but that dosn't complete what i want. If you read above you can see that i don't want them to be able to use karma unless that person posted on a thread you created.

So the Karma options will only show up if all these conditions are met, correct?
1) The user has created the thread he/she's viewing
2) The user hasn't already given someone karma in the thread
3) The thread is in the support board

I could get this to work to satisfy #1 and #3, but I don't know how to utilize cookies required for #2.

And locking the thread wouldn't actually be possible unless if the OP has the moderator abilities to lock threads. The thread could be made to appear locked, but there are ways to bypass the lock. Todge has created a code (Enable members to lock their own threads) that do this.

i think it would be better if instead of actualy locking the thread it just displayed [RD] in the thread title

Also only the exalt butten should show up

It would be nice if this was all put into one code but if that isn't possable it is fine
