I have a trackpad also, which is precisely why I don't use the scrollbar. From an aesthetic point of view, I think the thing is hideous, hence I hide it when its unnecessary.

I have a trackpad also, which is precisely why I don't use the scrollbar. From an aesthetic point of view, I think the thing is hideous, hence I hide it when its unnecessary. the visible jump really annoys me though, haha. xD

Of the centered content? It is roughly a 5pt jump. It's hardly noticeable, especially when compared to the disappearance of all content in between page loads. If the rendering is such a problem, perhaps you should switch to Ajax-only page loads like Facebook uses for most of their pages.
