Well, this seems to be the best place to put this! What place would people recommend for hosting .css files? I've tried wImg, but I can't name the files as I want, unless I'm missing something. Ripway I remember was being really stupid a while back, and you have to log in pretty regularly to keep your account there. I've tried Freewebs (worked for a few hours, now won't load anything except the control panel), and Fileupyours, which won't allow direct linking to files, apparently. Looking at the other hosts linked in the FAQ here, they either require paid membership for the features I need, or don't seem to host .css files. Sooo, any suggestions? Thanks

www.000webhost.com/Free hosting without ads and there's no catch. After you sign up they will temporarily bring your site down to make sure you aren't hosting anything malicious, but after that you're good to go. Just be sure to log into your account every once and a while because they delete inactive accounts.

I use Michael's wimg.co.uk for my CSS files. It's very fast, easy, and there's no sign up required, bandwidth/hosting limits, etc. After the site went down for a while in the past, I was hesitant to start using it again, but I have, and I make sure to save all my hosted files on my computer, just in case. 000webhost has a good reputation from what I've heard, but I haven't actually used it myself yet. While on the topic of hosted CSS, does anyone know what's the best way to link your forum to the CSS file? (Sorry, I don't mean to hijack your thread, Kalimalian!) <style type="text/css" src="http:// link here"></style> or<style type="text/css">/*\*/@import url(http:// link here);/**/</style> or<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http:// link here" />

Looks good, Jordan. One question: how often do I have to log in? I'm not very good at remembering to log in to these things, as I've learned with Ripway.

Trill, I said I tried wImg and it wasn't for me I couldn't choose my own names for files.

Trill, I said I tried wImg and it wasn't for me I couldn't choose my own names for files. Oops, I don't know how I misread that! Sorry Kalimalian. Fileden is an okay option, but I've used it only a couple times before. I'm not certain if they support CSS files, but it's worth a try if you run out of other options.

No problem I'm waiting for Freewebs (or Webs as they're apparently now known) to answer my support question as to why the hell my site's suddenly stopped working when it was fine this morning. If they can't resolve things quickly and satisfactorily, I think I'll be looking at the alternatives posted here, for sure.

Kalimalian,
The host Jordan suggested is good. Much better than ripway.com where you had to login to your account I think once a month. The thing with 000webhost is there should be some amount of traffic to your site and I think it's over a 90 day period. If it's too low they at least place a notice atop of your site. Then you simply login to your account and do something that says it's still in use.
Another good thing with this host is you can use a free domain from co.cc to really personalize your links and files. kalimalian.co.cc

Would the .css files being used in my headers count as activity? Presumably they're loaded in some way, via my Proboards?

Well, Freewebs seem to be having issues with UK ISP access since the beginning of June. Absolutely useless.
I'll be trying 000webhost. Thank you to those who linked it!
