1. As seen in the attachment, my domain expired nearly a year ago (but it's still active). I'm guessing that maybe this date but year 2010? 2. The attached file also shows my forum to be the "root" of my domain when in fact I use a sub-domain forums.allyourschat.com. If I select "Continue" will it automatically use my current sub-domain? 3. If No to #2 then what do I need to do? 4. When I first had the domain set up we used Google check out (I think it was called). Is that still the same or may we now use PayPal. 5. If no to #4 then will the checkout automatically use the same card we previously used or will we have an option to change our card of preference? If some of these questions weren't necessary I offer my apologies. I didn't want to click "Continue" until I was certain what was going to happen. Attachments:

So we wouldn't surprise anyone that was already using the custom domain feature, we've given everyone a month to update the domain. So even though it shows as expired, it's being allowed to remain active for that extended period of time 2. If you were to renew, it should stay as the sub domain since that's what you have setup with your registrar for your domain name. I'll ask about this one though just to be sure. Edit: Just got it confirmed, it'll still just be the sub-domain you have setup 4. Google checkout is still what we use for payment

Thanks Ricky I'll await what you find out about the sub-domain. And #5? The if no part? Ooops, I think the question was stated as a yes and no. You already said "yes" about Google checkout. I have a PayPal Credit/Debit card now (Master Card) which was not what I used before. I'm assuming I will be able to designate a new card for payment?

Just in case you didn't see the edit, re-newing will still only effect the sub-domain. I believe a fix is in the works to have the sub-domain display under the domains rather than the root for those who use the sub domain And the payment system is all handled by Google, so I'm not exactly privy to how they handle accounts, but I would assume that adding a new card to the account is indeed possible

Thank you very much Ricky. Yes, I saw your edit after I made my last post. I will soon make my renewal and if there are any problems (which I do not anticipate) will keep you posted.

Well simply clicking "Continue" didn't work. I can't remember what message it gave me but I went to change my DNS A record IP from 69.93.2.100 - Previous to 69.93.2.53 - Recommended. In my 1&1 domain settings it's status is "Updating" so I'm waiting for it to say "Ready". It looked to me like when I did click "Continue" that it did want to use my root domain name rather than a sub. Not sure it that in part was the problem or not. Any advice on what to do next other than wait for the status to change before I continue?

Nah, it wasn't part of the issue. Since you're using the A-records way, the old IP that was being used is out of date, so it needed you to update that before continuing on. Once it's done updating and showing as ready at your domain host you should be good to go

Thanks Ricky, By good to go, you mean I can probably click "Continue" to check out? It's status is still "Updating" and I did a ping for my sub-domain and it was the old IP. One other update I did was was to take the number out of the old proboards link since it's no longer necessary. Thanks for helping me Ricky

Correct, you should be able to continue on once the sub-domain's a-record is updated and our system can verify that. And it's not a problem, hopefully you won't have to wait it out too much longer

And it's not a problem, hopefully you won't have to wait it out too much longer OK, maybe I didn't ask the right question. I meant the "Continue" as if all was alright on the main screen when you first go to it but now I'm thinking maybe I need to continue in the "I want to manage my DNS" where I was given the new IP. If so there is an area for my domain. I guess if this is where I should continue, I place the full sub-domain? BTW, I'm still waiting for the stastus to change. I know that's not in your control.

You'll be able to press 'continue' to the right of the 'renew for 1 year' column once it's been updated. It's only being linked to your sub-domain in this process, even if it's listing your root domain on the screen

The old address will re-direct to the new address for 2 weeks. Once the 2 weeks are up, it'll stop functioning and may be cleared to let someone else register with the name. So you would have 2 weeks to get all of your members up to speed on the new address Just saw this reply in another thread. That's something I wasn't expecting. Before, both URLs were active and if the "Manual Domain Hosting" were to expire, the old ProBoards link would then be the only link. So what happens now when the year expires? I'm still waiting on the "Ready" status.

So if we wanted to change the URL for support.proboards.com to happykitty.proboards.com, support.proboards.com would redirect to happykitty.proboards.com for 2 weeks and then would stop functioning. That's only for this feature. The domain feature that you're using, the old proboards.com name does not expire, and will be able to be used along side of your domain name like it has in the past

Guess maybe I should have read that thread a little closer. OK, my 1&1 account says the domain is ready but it still pings the old IP. My guess... it hasn't propagated for me yet. But I guess it's OK to attempt a checkout now? Or maybe wait a little longer to be sure it has propagated with ProBoards?
