(im not sure this is the right place for this thread, but..)
So I have a general Domain/Server question. When a domain name is bought, but then connected to a separate hosting site, and the site is having trouble loading, is it an issue with the hosting site? the domain purchasing site? could it be either/both?
To be more specific... I have a domain: luvoxy.com I've attached my proboards (luvoxy.proboards.com) to the domain.
And lately I've been having an issue where, as I (and members) browse the forum, ever five or so clicks/links/pages the page times out. Usually one refresh is enough to fix the issue, but it's a bit irritating especially since posts can be lost in the process if a member is submitting..
I called the domain buying site, and they said this was not an issue with them since I don't have any hosting with them, and that it must be a problem with the hosting site. Is this true? Could this just be a temporary proboards server hiccup?

There's a possibility that this might have been causing the loading issue at your forum. However, everything should have been loading properly the last couple days... Or your issue could be something else altogether. Are the loading issues still occurring? If so, it'd be best to post in the Support board here for assistance from a ProBoards admin. This is the thread about the DDOS attack: support.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=support&action=display&thread=378600&page=1Another possibility is that there were issues loading the forum via the domain name. That might be related as well: support.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=support&action=display&thread=378774

But more often than not issues arise with the server charged with serving your content. Whether it's a malicious attack or otherwise. In this case it was an issue with ProBoards being hit by a DDoS attack.

In this case it was an issue with ProBoards being hit by a DDoS attack. The odds of it being a DNS issue are slim to none. Most browsers use DNS cache. So if it connects once, it will connect successfully from then until the browser is closed. Thus making it a hosting issue.

I see.
Thank you all so much. So I now know where the issue likes. =/
This still happens to me every so many clicks, from different computers/locations. I wonder if this will resolve itself in time, or if perhaps there are some loose ends/lingering problems from the attack that are still affecting a minority of sites?
When a proboards site is created, it is stored on one specific server for the life of the forum, right?
Does location affect the functionality of the hosting, or is the hosting quality the same across all locations?
I'm so ignorant of all this.. ^^; sorry if these are stupid questions.
