Forum URL: giffas.proboards.comThe CAPTCHA for registering new members is not loading up properly, even when I try "New Puzzle". Tried switching to audio, but the sounds are virtually unintelligible. Switched back to visual, but the image is still not loading up properly. Tried this several times now. See attached PDF file.

Hi,
The captcha appears fine on this end. Can you attach a screenshot (preferably in .jpg format) please? I'm not able to see .pdf files.

I have the same problem with Explorer (see attached). I have Cute PDF Writer installed for both. A couple of friends have told me they've had the same problem, and I doubt they have Cute PDF Writer installed. I'm not sure whether anyone else has had the problem, but I won't know unless they tell me, and I get the odd person finding the message board on the internet and registering, so if they couldn't register, they may have just gone away rather than informing me. I've had a few people register since I first noticed the problem, but I'm not sure if they registered through the registration page or they registered through a social network. Attachments:

I have the free edition of AVG Anti-Virus installed. I'm more concerned about others who might try to register, and I can't say what their set up will be like. Very occasionally, when I right click in the space where the image should appear, I get the view image option. If I select it, a Captcha appears in the window tab on its own (see attached). When I go back to the registration page, the Captcha doesn't usually appear, but on the odd occasion it remains visible, when I try to use the Captcha, I get the message that the Captcha entered is invalid. Once in every 30 to 40 times I go to the registration page, the Captcha appears without having to right click, but when I go through the process and try to register, I get the message that the Captcha entered is invalid, even when I'm very sure I entered it correctly. I don't see any disable function, so I would have to uninstall it. And like I said, the bigger problem is others who might want to register.

Ok, tried it. Didn't solve the problem. At least 2 others have told me they have the same problem, that's why I've come back to this 3 weeks later. In the interval, several others have registered, so it's clearly a problem that affects some but not all.

Do you all happen to share anything in common. ISP maybe, and general location?

CAPTCHA
Mar 22, 2011 7:55:32 GMT -8
Post by Rajiv on Mar 22, 2011 7:55:32 GMT -8
All members are in Singapore. That's about it. One of them tried it both at work (an international bank) and at home, and had the same problem from both places.
I've also tried it now from three different computers using two different ISPs and have had the same problem with each.
Even when the Captcha does appear on the odd occasion, entering it gives a message that the Captcha is invalid, which suggests that what appears isn't what the system is expecting.
It seems to be a very recent problem.
Could it be a Solve Media issue?
