Outbreak! (Ended)

So the general agreement among the group, though none of them really knew each other that well yet, was that they needed to move. They'd managed to get a few things the day before, hey, even Pepper had helped out by managing to find some more food (that was a clear shock to the girl), but it was clear that they couldn't last much longer where they were on the supplies that they had, and chances of finding more deteriorated each day at this location. Pretty much everyone else had already made up their minds, and though she may not be the sharpest tool among the group, she knew that sticking around alone would be a certain gruesome death... poor Etc. Peps was pretty sure that she was too young to die, so she quietly agreed along with the rest of the group; moving on to a new hideaway was the best thing to do, and maybe they'd be able to help out their wounded ally, too.

Phaelyn realised she in the entirely wrong mindset for roleplaying at the moment, so in a feeble attempt to stay in-character, she slipped Crow a quick note on their way out of the bed & breakfast.

Maybe you should give Etc. your med-kit? It'd probably be best for us if she...er, doesn't turn into a zombie. She'd probably give you an I.O.U., if you asked for it. I personally just think we'd do better without an infected member right now, and the med-kit might help her.

Yesterday, as Adam searched the B&B, he heard Etc. limp through the door. He peeked around the corner and watched as she nursed her arm under her clothes. His eyes widened and the corners of his mouth stretched outward, forming a thin smile.

He walked into view and approached Etc. "My dear, you should be careful. We wouldn't want anything to happen to you. Here, eat this." He held out a ration. "And it will taste much better with this." Adam reached out with a salt shaker and shook it onto Etc.'s hurt arm. "Oh, dear! Clumsy me..." Adam smiled again, squinting down at Etc, pleased. After a few seconds, he set the ration on the ground and walked away.

That night, Adam defended West with Etc. and his eyes never left her arm. The next morning, Etc., slightly out of it from the infection, couldn't recall if she ever once saw Adam blink the entire night.

As everyone headed out to the new location together, Adam followed Etc. a small distance behind her. Every time Etc. looked over her shoulder at him, he exhaled loudly as if he only just remembered to breath. Etc. couldn't tell for sure, but she thought it almost sounded like he was laughing.

After a short discussion with Adam out of game I felt the need to clarify something.

People can heal themselves if they rest.
People can heal themselves if they use a medkit.
Healers cannot use their skills on themselves.

Adam o.O you are weirdddd.

Ryan Roos so other than the 3+ health are there any other skills healers can do? Also does healing yourself with the medkit take a turn like move location? And if I use the medkit for antiseptic the medkit will still be left over right? I mean it doesn't only have one item in it right?

*Etc. Clutches the medkit in her hands. She really didn't like how Adam always seems to be looking at her, she tries to hurry up to catch the rest of the group*

Walking down the creaking stairs of the abandoned bed & breakfast, Nick takes one last look at its silhouette as he follows the others to the mall (Move to 17). It had protected them, if only for a brief moment, and as he walks out onto the road the scent of wood soaked in orange-oil catches in his nose.

Staying at the back of the group, he notices Etc.'s black festering wound, which seems to throb with a life of its own. Maybe it's just her blood beating beneath the surface, but its life seems dark and sinister, a black beetle sucking the life from its owner.

Striding forward, he leans her arm over his shoulder and whispers into her ear, "You should take a break for a moment and use those medical supplies." He puts his arm around her waist and continues to help her towards their new stronghold, where he will be Fighting to Defend the South with his Fists.

Day 3 Recap
On the third day of the horror that Brindol had become the small band set out in search of safer place. They made their way up the hill to the mall they had discovered.

A leader of sorts rose up to guide them. Patrick had spoken up and took charge deciding that it was time to relocate. The group traveled scattered and spread out to Brindol Mall. Many had become weary of Etc and her appearance. Outside in the sunlight it became obvious that something was wrong. Her skin was pale and cracked at the edges of her mouth, her eyes were yellowed and she was having trouble getting her legs to walk properly. Nick came up and helped her up the hill. Nearby Adam watched with a strange look in his eyes.

At the top of the street they stopped and looked around. They saw no zombies nearby. Wildmaven held a hand to the sky to shield her eyes from the bright sunlight. "Are we going in?" She asked.

Patrick pushed open the front door to the mall and everyone filed in. It was dark inside, the electricity had been on at the inn but here it didn't appear to be. Sunlight fluttered in through dirty skylights smudged with soot. there had been a fire in the mall. Shops on both sides lay destroyed and in ruins.

Pepper noticed a blinking red light on one wall near the doors. She cautiously walked over. There was a key ring hanging by one key that was sitting in a lock. She looked back at the group everyone else seemed to be focusing on the mall. She turned the key. A loud buzzing noise went off and the light turned green. One by one the doors to the mall made loud snapping noises as electronic locks slammed into place. The lights overhead kicked on, and then continued through the rest of the mall like dominoes spreading out.

"Ooops" Pepper said. The other survivors just stared at her. Crow, Kim, and Ren heard it first. A low echo of footfalls emanating from somewhere in the mall. In the distance Ren saw a person come running around the corner, followed closely by 4 others. A moment later she screamed.

Five zombies were running at them full speed. So far most of the walking dead they had seen were doing exactly that, walking. But these five were moving. One of them tripped over a wet floor sign and went flying out of view behind a giant rotunda with a new car sitting on top of it. The other four did not fall and were halfway to the group. Derek tried the door closest to him. It was locked shut.

"EVERYONE BEHIND ME!!" Phaelyn shouted. Patrick and Nick stepped up on either side of her as the group backed against the doors. Patrick with the combat knife Ren had given him held tightly. Nick took a martial arts stance. Phaelyn held her boat oar high and as the first zombie entered her range she swung fast and hard.

The edge of the paddle blade cut through the air and met with the side of the zombies face. It's head turned sharply to the side and it collapsed to the ground. Patrick lashed forward with the knife quickly dispatching of his zombie. The two remaining zombie both lunged at Nick. Both had been teenage girls when they were alive, one even had iPod headphones still hanging from her ears. Nick effortlessly redirected their momentum up and then downwards their heads hitting the cold hard floor of the mall. A slight echo reverberating off the walls he busted a winning pose that would make Bruce Lee proud.

Everyone let out a sigh of relief. They heard a slight moan from further away. The group cautiously made their way towards the rotunda where the fifth zombie had fallen. The You Could Win This Car lightly flashing. Pepper looked at the keys in her hand, one had ring with a small tab attached it read Contest Car. Her eyes lit up, she pushed the button on the attached key fob and the lights of the car flashed along with the horn beeping twice in quick succession. Everyone looked at her again. "Oooops"

As they rounded the corner they saw the zombie laying on the floor letting out a slow moan. The sunlight beat down on it. Maybe there was a reason they saw less zombies during the day. Kim was just thinking this when Etc raised her hand and shied away from the light almost confirming the theory. Phaelyn quickly dispatched the zombie.

After a quick look around the group decided it could hold out here for the night.

Night 3 Recap
After a tense day of relocating the group rested. Around midnight zombies came pounding on the doors. They didn't make much progress, the electronic locks doing their job. They wandered away a short time later. Everyone slept lightly. Many from staying awake for so long, others feeling more secure with their companions. In the early morning hours Alex awoke with a start. He thought he heard a scream from somewhere outside, he listened quietly for nearly 20 minutes. Maybe there were other survivors he thought to himself before drifting back off to sleep.
