I used to do it myself. Find pre-made graphics on google, and use that picture for your background, and your banner. Before I had photoshop, I would do this and I thought it looked good. Now comparing my forum to those forums, it is a huge diffrence. Did anyone else ever do this?

By the time I started using Proboards, I had already dabbled in web design, so I never did this for my forum. I did, however, use premade backgrounds and blinkie makers for my blog layouts when I first started. <3 Nostalgia.

Depending on the situation if i needed a simple image say a band/artist and i wanted to crop it and slap it in place sure. most photos take some heavy manip before i repost em but i know a lot of people that still do this and it works as long as you know what your looking for

You you saying there's a difference between manipulating the photo and just using it as it came originally? If so, yes I mess with images all the time to get the look I want. Especially if I have a color theme, everything must match haha.
