In the uk there are cases about thieves disguised in labcoats and false badges etc 'tailgating' staff through secrity doors (the ones with badge accesss), then they steal from handbags in offices.
Maybe you've had that happen as well

Super creepy. My first job was at a Japanese restaurant and there were cameras all over the place. The feed went directly to the general managers house...and he watched us like ALL the time. If he saw someone doing something wrong, he would call the restaurant and yell at us.

There was this one tiiiiny corner where the cameras couldn't see you so everyone would go stand there to make a phone call or text or whatever

That is awesome. I can imagine lots of people cramped into a tiny space just to escape their employer's eye. I don't think it'll ever get like that in this country.

this ^^ and besides its not really surprising these days that they have got cctv cameras nearly everywhere.yes i agree with cctv cameras in certain areas but not in changing rooms or other inappropriate areas

After we had a laptop stolen from our previous office (it wasn't in the greatest of areas), we installed cameras around the main entrance. It never really bothered me. A break room may seem excessive, but I can see a number of reasons it would be necessary (harrassment, theft, etc.).

Our school has cameras at the bathroom doors and down the hallways, and a few outside, not many though to the point of feeling uncomfortable. Mostly just for runaways and vandals.

But in a break room I would be uncomfortable. I would break outside

I can understand putting it in actual work areas, but while we're on break, we're not even being paid by the company, so I think it's pretty petty to put it in there.

we have cameras everywhere at my job. but i sell guns on the military base, so it's slightly understandable =P
