Incredible. This is going to wipe the floor with every other forum software out there in my opinion. Can't wait to get my hands on it! (figuratively of course) I disagree. These are good features but other providers already had these features for a while. This is an attempt to keep up with the competition and it certainly will do. Unfortunately... I hope we don't have to wait 3 - 5 years for another version when other providers have sprinted ahead again. On the positive, the avatar maker looks fairly unique and I haven't seen that yet although that's likely because other providers have deemed it too much hard work for what a webcam can do in 5 minutes. All in all, Proboards is now competitive for the moment but please release new versions more often.  Rereading my post, it seems I've been a little harsh but you should know that I'm just being honest. I'm objective, not a fanboy. |

Being a free forum software, and competing against high cost software like vBulletin and IP Boards (which cost $150+ to install) is downright amazing! That definitely has to be taken into consideration. Now that so many of the features available on expensive forum softwares are available for ProBoards (a free, and remotely hosted software) ProBoards should get a lot more traffic it's way. Why pay hundreds for those forums when ProBoards can offer some 90%+ of the same features?  (and some unique to itself) Not to mention being free of the complications with hosting. And though I haven't seen the admin panel, from what I hear it seems even more flexible/customizable and user-friendly than those other softwares - but alas, I shall have to wait and see~ edit: Oh, and of course there's the amazing support staff! That's something other forums lack, I think. |

Amazing. I love the new look, and the new features. V5 definitely is a huge step up from the current PB. I can't wait for the final release. I've been working on building a forum, and after seeing this, I really want to wait until then to start it up.
Keep up the awesome work, all you at Proboards, and I eagerly await the final product.

I know a few alpha testers have said that v5 would jump right over the competition. A good portion of the new features on V5 other software already have. I know XenForo has a like button and phpBB, MyBB, etc have shoutbox integration through MODS. However, that brings me to a major plus for ProBoards. For one, it's free. Who doesn't like free? Also, it's so easy, a caveman could do it, which should raise popularity of ProBoards for people that are new to forums and are usually around 13-14 years old. I think it would be a good feature if users could disable the shoutbox through modifying their profile. All in all, ProBoards V5 is awesome. ;D |

What about live search for example? I wasnt aware any other service had this. Ajax page navigation is another I can think of.
That said, i dont use any of the other systems, so dont know what they actually have

this is the first i have seen a search like the v5 one.
Most other forum service's are bare bones and you have to install mods/plugins to get something like v5 has as stanard whichis great for PB.Makes it easier on the admins to setup a forum and open faster.
