Simple but sleek rank up icons or graphics?

Im working on a new look for a gaming forum and the board itself isnt filled with gaming stuff, but for a rank up system im trying to figure out something thats just sleek and slick to rank people up or as ive seen before a progression bar type thing.

But im just hitting a wall creativly on it, anyone able to offer up some ideas possible?

Im looking for something just maybe gaming related that isnt to over the top, or even just a simple rank up solution to try perhaps. Any ideas are suggested, thanks!

well if you're gonna have a lot of FPS game-related stuff, you could do a row of bullets?

if for rpgs then maybe a pile of coins that grows.

what about simple colored bars (how original, right?)?

oh oh oh, i got it! a whole system! using the custom titles and ubbc img tags, make each person have 4 different "bars" one fore each platform (ps, xbox, wii, and pc) and name it as such... then have it so that it fills with the platform's color as it grows... something like the following:

as their filling up - maybe make 5 different stages or something. you could "fill up" their bar a bit, if they add/start/contribute towards that specific console.

completely filled - maybe have a bonus for when they get it filled?

maybe there should be text in it, just in case ppl arent familiar w/ the colors...

in that case, id make them taller, just so you could read the text

A couple ideas,

Do an xp bar? experience points are a pretty hefty part of a lot of today's xbox fps games.

Will the rank up icons be based on forums posts? or will you be doing the ranking yourself based on other variables?
