FMA Skin help / colours / pointers

So, I'm making a Fullmetal alchemist roleplay site, and I'm having issues with my skin colours and choices.
I originally planned to have a gray skin with black and white images.
But after a while, I began to have second thoughts since the skin it's self seemed really bland and tasteless.
But I'm at a stand still.
I can't seem to get the right colours that actually reflect the actual FMA sort of feeling.
I guess you have to read and / or watch it to understand what I'm getting to, but the feeling isn't quite vibrant and happy, I guess you could say.

Anyways, I would absolutely love if anyone could perhaps suggest a colour scheme that would fit the feeling of the entire series.

The site might help get a perspective - but what about a black and white forground (boards/text) with a black and silver background.

AND have red scattered throughout the entirety; what i like doing is have one color, that I only want a small amount of, is to put it into my on/off icons.

OR ya could focus of the world of FMA instead of characters (for the theme, im speaking) and put lots of browns/grays/greens in it - imitating any one city that's in the world.

This all depends on if you have a banner or some sort of graphics to match it to already, or need help with coloring that too. Cause if the banner is the characters, then obviously matching them would be best; while if its a picture of al and ed's hometown, Resembool (or however you spell it), then matching the scene is a good idea.

I really like the ideas you have.
I'm thinking of using green and brown and maybe a creamy white <3

But my banner is actually black and white, so that's why I was having issues with a colour scheme <3
