Design newbie?

I just made my first proboards forum and I'm trying to set up the colors and everything...and failing xD. I can use photoshop/GIMP(I'm poor, so no Photoshop atm, but GIMP works xD) pretty well and html. HTML isn't my strong point, though.

I just don't know how to incorporate that into the forum. This is what it's like right now(don't laugh): thoughtsintowords.proboards.com/index.cgi

So some questions(sorry if it gets lengthy):

• How do I get the logo/title centered?
  
• How can I make the colors and everything look...just....nicer?
  
• This might sound stupid...but can I add another admin instead of just adding mods?
  
• How do I change name color, add custom titles, etc.?
  
• What general design stuff is there to do?

-Depends on what you mean by centered. If you want the text removed so that it's just the banner (like most sites do) then check out this code. You can also opt to have the text moved below the banner using this code.
-Use your eyedropper tool in GIMP to pick out colors from your banner so that the forum matches. Your banner is much darker than the current colors you have picked out, so I'd try to either lighten the banner or darken the skin palette.
-Yes, you can. I'd be careful who you trust with that, though. They could delete the whole forum and there'd be nothing you could do about it.
-What do you mean by that specifically? There's a lot of stuff to do as a designer. As a beginner, you should check out some tutorials. I learned a lot from doing those. They familiarize you properly with all the tools and give you access to a slew of different techniques.
