As shorttyverrett mentioned above, the accounts aren't combined, just the login. Accounts are still completely separate, but you only have to authenticate once to log into all of them.

Well it wouldnt only be used for roleplay forums though. On any PB forum you can register with your global login. That way you don't have to remember a bunch of different username/password combinations. Also you wouldnt have to remember every forum URL you are on. And you can switch between from different forums easily as well.

So a hacker has an increased chance of accessing someone's accounts. Someone who cracks an account (not hacks) will have access to all the accounts. Same is true if you have five accounts with the same password.

Crack/hack, whatever. Also they can only do so if they know where these accounts are.

Also the login is on the proboards network. So its not on the forum, so the likely hood of someone hacking/cracking an account is slim.

That only prevents the staff of a forum from compromising your password. But in a simple sense, the global login replaces many unique passwords with a single password. That makes one password the key to all of your forum accounts. The idea itself makes the system insecure.

You could possibly do it today on your own forum. Hide the login, and make a fake one. With v5, you supposedly get more control, so that's why you need an external login. However, couldn't v5 use iframes and HTML5?

Sure, it makes peoples' lives easier but it also makes it less secure. I'm not a fan of this feature because of this.

v5 will use a https secure login server, so it's even more secure that v4.5.

v5 will use a https secure login server, so it's even more secure that v4.5. But the simple logic of having multiple passwords over one single password is lost. ;D
