Any web host as they all ask for account credentials.
I just hope v5 makes up for these loses. It's been put off for a long time now and you guys keep building up the hype.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Proboards keep taking more and more of our admin capabilities away, we're supposed to be running our forums yet we have no control or anything. Most people who run forums have full access, we're slowly losing all of it just for the convenience of using Proboards. We've lost some basic controls over the forum. It's not harder to identify users. A simple method of detecting spammers is also lost.

Ryan already covered the spamming features, although rather a bold statement. In v5 there are new tools to deal with SPAM far more advanced than any other forum service.

Email addresses aren't necessarily the main way to track spam. Over half of the time, you don't even bother to care until you come across a spam post on the forum. It's then when you check out the account.

It's then when you check out the account. E-mail addresses are the only true identity to an account. It also provides an offsite source of communication. And many admins do associate e-mail addresses and usernames. If they spot something new, they may expect something malicious, beforehand.

Well we have no idea of the "advanced anti-spamming features" that Ryan is hyping.

But we've certainly lost one basic feature, as Kyle mentioned. We've also lost the onsite login.

Whats the big deal about an onsite login? Really? Its ultimately the same as clicking the login button on your forum. It takes you to a page. Essentially it's the exact same thing. But on a more secure network.

You are making a big deal over nothing! Is it really going to inconvenience you so much? If so tell me how?

The only thing is that many of them have left. And yes, it is a major inconvenience. Now, an admin can't contact a member via e-mail. Now, an admin cannot confirm a person's identity via e-mail.

Ryan already said, staff could email people. Ryan also said that you can confirm that.
