"About half" being rather off. What I posted is what you call a guesstimate.
You also never answered my question.

67% is about half? You could almost fit a 10x10 image in your inaccuracy. I would be happier if forum owners could minimize it by default for their forums. ;D

And if the members wanted it, they could just hover over it? I don't see any harm there.

Or perhaps, we can let the forum owners choose if it stays in one spot or follows you?

Dylan - Answering your question > We have not finished this yet. Nothing is finalized. I'm not going to tell you anything right now regarding the bar because nothing is set in stone yet. I'm trying to give you guys an idea of what it will be. I can't answer questions regarding cookies because it doesn't exist yet. Odds are, no it won't use cookies. In v5 we avoid cookies when we can. That doesn't mean that's the final answer though. @both of you. Next time I'll make sure to measure things completely accurately when dealing with hypothetical features that don't exist yet. Visually it is about half of the bold button (which was the first image I found while making the post to give you an example). I didn't know you guys were going to over analyze everything down to the pixel. Most users just want simple explanations they can understand and don't tear apart what I say. I also provided an attachment that had an example exactly the size I said. I'm done with this thread unless other users have legitimate questions regarding this topic. I explained the same thing three times and gave a very nice visual example of what I imagine the finished size of the bar could be. Now we just degraded into nitpicking and I am far too busy trying to finish v5 to continue.

Well, Thank You. It sounded like you meant humor, so I stayed with it.

I was just curious to see how much of my awesome forum design would be taken away.

Ryan, the accuracy part was filling in with the humor you started. Anyways, I appreciate the attachment. This does give an oppurtunity for Proboards' users to connect across forums. But we have to realize that some forums aren't meant to be connected much. There are forums about "bush pilots", businesses, service and support, and other forums that may not flow well with increased connectivity. Here's my compilation of possible great options. Maybe v5 will use one of them. ;D Perhaps, if we had an option where forum owners choose where to place it off a list of places (just like we do with ads now), and it doesn't follow you as you scroll. Otherwise, forum owners could have the option to minimize it by default. Perhaps, if we wanted to go to the extreme (although I doubt v5 would do this), maybe forum owners could choose ot have this or not? Well, those were just my ideas.

I don't mind it being on the forum. The screen real estate that it taken is very minimal which I respect. My only suggestion is that we could choose where to place the bar. Certain forums may use the bottom row and as such, would want to move the bar to another location.

I agree with that. The only part that really bothers me is that it follows you as you scroll. I really don't like elements that do that.

Am I the only one who doesn't even notice it when I am browsing? It blends in so well. And as I am reading posts, I have no need to look in the far bottom corner, so it's no bother to me.

Most people won't notice it. Especially once its actually done and polished. All of the staff here at ProBoards have a similar bar in v4 (except is even bigger and blue). It's been on my screen for 3 years and I never even notice it unless I'm using it.

I don't either. I mean sometimes I do, but mainly when I first get on. But it doesnt bother me, just because its small and doesnt really cover anything

You have no need to look at the bottom, but that's for PBS. Obviously on PBS, I won't give a crap about it either. But other forums will obviously have different layouts whereby the bottom of a screen could possibly be used. It won't work in such conditions.

Then in that case, people would EASILY be able to work around it. I still don't see how it's a big deal like you guys are making it out to be.
