When posting, in the same little box/div/whatever lol as the create post, it says:
if you are makin a new thread it says: "This thread has no effects applied to it."
and if you are replying to a thread it says: "The thread in which you are posting has no effects applied to it."
What are thread effects?

Lock, sticky, add a poll, attachment, etc.

Things that affect the threads status.
For example it might say
This thread is locked, stickied, and has a poll.

sorry for double posting. But so i made a new thread that has a poll, and in the thread create page it said it had a poll and whatnot but when replying to it, it still say this thread has no effects.

sorry for double posting. But so i made a new thread that has a poll, and in the thread create page it said it had a poll and whatnot but when replying to it, it still say this thread has no effects. It's what effects you are applying with the post you are making. When you made the thread you were adding a poll. When you replied you weren't doing anything. If you were a mod and replying maybe you would be locking the thread or stickying it. The smart sentence tells you everything that you are doing when you click the post button. Check out the Search page for a really neat smart sentence. We use them in a few places to assist people. The admin area has one or two good ones as well.

You'll notice the smart sentence always appears next to a button. It's telling you things related to when you press that button.

You're welcome!
Like I said check out the search page. That's the one I'm most proud of. But you can also go back and test in a post again. Use the option drop down in the upper right (the gear icon) and pick Bookmark. Then check out the sentence. They're really very neat especially if you are a moderator.
