Forum Privacy v.5beta + No Facebook

Hi,

Our forum is locked almost entirely private to protect member confidentiality. New registrations are disabled and participants are directed to send us an email to register. We then go in as admin and register new members.

Also, we are not on facebook. I personally cannot stand facebook. Are we being forced to use facebook to keep our forum? Will our forum work as a stand alone site without facebook involvement?

Main questions:-
1. Privacy - will entire forum still be private
2. New registrations - will be able to keep current + future privacy ?
3. Facebook - we're not doing facebook ever. Does it matter?

All help appreciated. Our forum is 10 years old, nationally valued for a rare disorder and located here:- cmsadmin.proboards.com/
Are we going to lose our forum?

Hi. I'm sure an admin will answer more fully than I, but my understanding is that your current privacy settings will not change, nor will your registration methods.

Facebook is NOT required. Facebook was merely being used as a means to sign up people who were interested in being a part of the initial launch of BetaZone. Once that has passed, they've said they will be offering a 'non-Facebook' method of requesting a BetaZone copy of your board (if you're interested in that).

1) Your forum will still be Private. All forum and board settings will still exist in v5.
2) You can still have Restricted Registration. Members can send 'request to join' messages to you and any staff now if you enable it. You can also have a set message display to them after they submit their request. This is integrated into the forum now, this could help you with your current email setup.
3) You do not need to use Facebook for any reason in ProBoards V5.

We currently are providing members who Like us on Facebbok an advanced signup opportunity for our BetaZone testing. Everyone else will be able to signup once BetaZone launches. This is just promotional. In no way at all will ProBoards require the use of Facebook to operate.
