@xsteveuk Yootil Library auto updates, as the code is in a remote file and not inside the plugin. The only plugin of mine that will notify the main admin when there is an update, is the Monetary System. I have Yootil installed, but it reports itself as 0.8.10, yet I see here that it is at 0.8.17. Do I have to do anything to get it to update? I am just wondering if I have missed anything obvious.

I haven't looked at the code in a while myself, but since it's a remote file, you're fine and technically have 0.8.17.

Just add to what Chris has said...
It is a remote file for the moment, and that will be the latest version. However, soon all the code will be moving into the plugin due some new rules that will be enforced soon.
I am thinking of writing an update checker like I have done for the Monetary System so that people are aware of the latest version.

0.9.0
It's highly recommended that people update to this version.
All the code is now compressed and put inside the plugin, so in future when updates are made to the library, you will need to update the plugin as well. For those that are still using the previous version, I will continue to update the file for it, however, some features will not be available to you that are in 0.9 (i.e update notification) and future releases.
In 0.9.0, there are a few settings you can change. At the moment you can change how often the plugin checks for updates (can be turned off), and to disable the Yootil Bar.
Any issues, please post below. I will update the topic when I know the version in the ProBoards Library has been updated, as I know some people prefer to install directly from there.
Download from first post.

Over 1,000 forums have got this installed now, though I don't see many other plugin authors using it. Any reason why? Or do people just like reinventing the wheel? Post your thoughts, am curious. Note: Am not addressing those smaller plugins. Its not personal or anything. I just like the satisfaction of making my own things work without relying too much on externals. I already rely on jQuery for everything so I HAVE taken advantage of externals, but sometimes making your own function for something gives you the opportunity to customize it a little differently. especially if lter down the line you have to change they way the function works. also there is the issue of you using the external host that worries me a little if the host goes down. then its out of my control to resolve the issue. edit: posted before I saw that last response so ignore that part.

I'm the same as Wormo. I create codes because I enjoy it, and using someone else's work to achieve something I am trying to create, to me, is cheating. It's like buying flat-packed chest of drawers, putting it together and pretending you built it from scratch.

Wormopolis, Todge: Would it make you feel better if you had contributed to Yootil? Remember, it is open source and we accept contributions: github.com/pixelDepth/Yootil/ (Just tossing that out there. I completely understand your points.)

Now I'm feeling guilty for my post...
I have nothing against Yootil, and fully understand why others use it to save time and work in their creations. I simply prefer not to.
I also prefer what I write to be non-reliant on other plugins, that way I have total control over their content and functionality.

0.9.1 is available.
This version fixes a possible bug with the update notification.
I have also changed it so only the main admin will see the notification (until I implement permissions).
Download from first post, or wait until the library has been updated to 0.9.1.

ImportantIf you are noticing any plugins no longer working that require Yootil, please make sure you are using 0.9+. Remote files in plugins are no longer allowed, so they are being blocked by ProBoards.

Hi I'm trying to disable the update notice. I've gone into the settings but it hasn't changed. Help?
