how do i enable stock market

Stock Market feature no longer works due to the external data API being turned off by Yahoo.

I understand that this plugin is no longer offered or supported, Peter, but is there another similar enough that is still available/supported by proboards? I tried looking through the list and didn't see anything stand out by title so I thought I'd ask.

I ask because I am currently using this plugin on my site and I am finding that it doesn't work on all themes and I was thinking about switching to something new.

Unfortunately not.

If the theme is removing classes / ids, then you need to try and get them put back.

The Monetary plugin looks for specific elements with certain classes / ids so it can manipulate them to display the money.

The key areas are mini profiles and profiles. I would look at a vanilla theme, compare the classes / ids and see what is missing in the theme you are using. This also includes the user link in the mini profile. Data attributes for the user id wasn't added when I was updating the code, so it relies on finding the user link in the mini profile.

i understood that was the reason why it wasn't working in the main profile of a certain/new theme because that was entirely a unique set of classes, but i kept the mini profile within the original set of classes provided with the vanilla theme and it shows just fine, just not with the ability to edit the amounts and then it seems to not be counting correctly.

for example, we have it set that posts in certain sections are woth 10 points. but after 1 account posted 10 times in the same thread (shoudl be 100 points), there were only counting 6 times (60 points).

and when i went to check here, i saw it was no longer supported or available thru the library here, so i wondered if that mgiht be part of it as well. so that's why i asked. but, i will check again. it's possible i missed something.

All I can really say is that the plugin was left in a working state when I decided to stop supporting it. Maybe something has changed on ProBoards end (if that was the case I would expect a higher number of people posting here) that is causing it to not work correctly.

Things to note or try:

- Doesn't work on mobile.
- Test on a vanilla forum so you can see if it does work for you.
- Disable all other plugins (apart from Yootil), maybe there is a conflict on the posting page?
- Test the plugin with default settings (ask members to test on desktop and keep an eye on amount after each post).

Unfortunately there isn't much I can do for you. Motivation on this plugin is 0%, so it's why I stopped working on it and supporting it.

Do some testing your end to see if you can rule out any issue that isn't with the plugin (i.e conflict, member using mobile), then post back in a day or two with your forum URL and I may take a closer look.

Could someone explain please how you are supposed to "download and install" this former plugin through the link offered? I can see you can download three different files, but I'm not sure how to go about getting those on my forum or what one I should use. Is it straightforward?

Wait! I figured it out, love!

Go to your Admin Home -> Plugins -> Manage.

At the top of that page is an option to upload. Use the *.pbp file from the GitHub download and just submit it in. It will be ready to rock and roll from there.
